Eric Dane's Grieving Wife, Rebecca Gayheart Looks Devastated In First Visuals Since His Death At 53

Eric Dane, one of the much-loved actors, passed away at the age of 53. He was suffering from the condition ALS, and it was only 10 months ago, that he revealed being diagnosed with ALS. The actor passed away on February 19, 2026. His family confirmed the same through a statement, while revealing that the actor was surrounded by his family members during the last few days of his life.

Eric got married to Rebecca Gayheart in 2004, and in 2018, the actress filed for a divorce, which she dismissed in 2025. The couple has two daughters, and as the actor passed away, Rebecca took to her social media and shared a series of emotional family photos. She was also recently photographed, and looked devastated. She was spotted at the actor's New York home. Rebecca was dressed in a trench coat and looked devastated. On the other hand, the actress took to her social media handle and shared some of the photos from their top-notch family moment, and it's all emotional. She also thanked everyone for the GoFundMe donations for the actor.

For the unversed, Eric and Rebecca, although they parted ways, were not divorced, and through their separation, the duo co-parented their two daughters, Georgia Geraldine and Billie Beatrice Dane. Billie was named after Eric's father, and the couple decided beforehand that their first child, be it a boy or a girl, would be named after the actor's father, who was a Navy man but ended up working in interior design. Eric's father died when he was just 7 years old. And it was only after Eric became a dad that he understood how tough it was for a child to lose his/her parent, and that too, at such a young age.

Eric Dane sat for an interview with Netflix's Famous Last Words, wherein she talked about his wife, Rebecca. He shared that he could never love anyone as deeply as Rebecca Gayheart. He further mentioned that when he first met her, he turned to her friend, saying that he would marry her. Rebecca's friend was adamant that she would never break up with her then-fiance, with whom she had been since she was 15 years old.

However, four years passed, and Rebecca ended up marrying Eric Dane. The actor met Rebecca during Grey's Anatomy, and according to PEOPLE, he asked him if she would want to go on a date. She said 'yes' and 10 months later they ended up marrying each other.

The couple have two daughters, and speaking about Eric's ALS diagnosis, Rebecca shared in an interview that she told her kids that people should be there for people, and that's what matters the most. She further mentioned to her kids that Eric is their father and they are family, and thus, no matter what, they needed to show up and try to do it with some dignity and some grace and just get through it. While Rebecca filed for divorce from Eric in 2018, she dismissed the same in 2025.
