Farah Khan recalls the struggle she faced while conceiving

Farah Khan recently appeared on Sania Mirza’s Serving It Up with Sania podcast and discussed the struggles she faced while conceiving. She opened up about failing the In Vitro Fertilisation procedure twice. The director shared that she was emotionally tired during that phase and used to cry all day. Recalling the tough phase when she was filming Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer, Om Shanti Om, Farah said:

"I failed twice in IVF. I used to just be crying and crying. It’s also because of the hormones that are pumped in. I used to cry at the drop of a hat. And I was also shooting Om Shanti Om at the same time."

When Farah Khan opened up about her late pregnancy due to marriage at 40

In an earlier podcast with Debinna Bonnerjee, Farah Khan opened up about her late pregnancy due to her late marriage to Shirish Kunder. The Om Shanti Om director shared that she was 40 years old when she walked down the aisle. She revealed that she tried to conceive naturally on a gynaecologist’s advice for almost two years, but it was of no help. That’s when she opted for IVF. She also mentioned that there was a lot of stigma around the in vitro procedure as it was not popular at that time. She was quoted as saying:

"Pehle toh main bolungi late pregnancy kyuki meri shaadi hi late hui. I was 40 years old when I got married. Toh waise bhi pregnancy late hi honi thi. Uske baad ek-do saal hum log ne naturally try kiya kyuki hum ek gynaecologist ke paas gaye the, and I said ki I am old toh… unhone kaha, ‘Nahi try naturally’, toh naturally nahi ho raha tha."
