But, before he could rise to more fame, the actor had to leave India due to Indo-Pak tensions. After a nine-year wait, the actor was again set to make a grand comeback in Indian films with Abir Gulaal. The film's soulful music, fresh pairing and attractive visuals had already went viral online. However, the recent Pahalgam attack has again put the film's release in jeopardy. Amid the uncertainty over Abir Gulaal's release, know about Fawad Khan's paycheck for the film. 

Fawad Khan charged a massive fee for his comeback in Bollywood

Fawad Khan has been a leading star in Pakistan and receives immense praise for his impressive acting skills, powerful dialogue delivery, and charming looks. He enjoys a loyal fan base across both sides of the border, and they are excited for his comeback despite some opposition. Consequently, it's unsurprising that he charged a good amount for his comeback. According to a report by Siasat, Fawad, who earns Rs 15–20 lakh per TV episode in Pakistan and Rs. 2 crore for each film, got a bigger payback for his upcoming Indian film. He was reportedly paid between Rs. 5 to 10 crore for Abir Gulaal.

Fawad has received a massive amount for his recent success in Pakistan's entertainment industry and popularity in India. The film's lead actress, Vaani Kapoor, has also charged around Rs. 1.5 crore for her role. Apart from her, the film features an ensemble of Indian actors, including Lisa Haydon, Riddhi Dogra, Farida Jalal, Soni Razdan, and others in pivotal roles.

FWICE demands the boycott of Pakistani artists in India

After the tragic incident of the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan's citizens have been asked to leave India. The attack has left every Indian in shock and grief. Amid this situation, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has called for a boycott of Pakistani actors in India as they did in 2019. The decision was prompted by the release of Fawad's Abir Gulaal. Moreover, several cinema houses are hesitant to screen the film, which was set to release on May 9, 2025. At the same time, some media sources shared that the Information and Broadcasting Ministry is allegedly considering denying permission to release films altogether. Amid all this, the film's release continues to be uncertain.

Fawad Khan condemns the attack in Pahalgam

After the Pahalgam attack case, Fawad Khan took to his Instagram handle on April 23, 2025 and shared a condolence message. He condemned the attack and expressed his sadness over the demise of 26 innocent civilians in the attack. Calling the attack ‘heinous’, he penned:

More about the Pahalgam attack 

The Pahalgam attack took place on April 22, 2025, when four to five terrorists opened fire on a group of civilians who were visiting the beautiful paradise. A total of 26 innocent lives were lost, which included some newlyweds and left some others injured. The eyewitnesses revealed that the victims were shot after being enquired about their religion, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been handed over the investigation.
