Not just in movies, in real-life too, Shah Rukh Khan has made us believe that love triumphs all with his journey of love with Gauri Khan. Shah Rukh and Gauri’s tale of love had begun the way many great stories do i.e., love at first sight. But ahead, it wasn’t a cakewalk for the couple. Since Shah Rukh was a pathani Muslim guy and Gauri had hailed from a family of Hindu Brahmins, it acted as an obstacle in their journey because it was difficult to convince her parents for their inter-religion union. But eventually, Shah Rukh and Gauri were given a nod by her parents and on October 25, 1991, the lovebirds had tied the knot as per Hindu rituals. Shah Rukh Khan shares a warm camaraderie with his wife, Gauri Khan’s mother, Savita Chhiba. Last year on September 8, 2019, when Savita ji had turned a year older, Shah Rukh and Gauri had taken to their Twitter handles to post lovely wishes for her, making her day extra special. Gauri had shared a picture of Shah Rukh posing with his mother-in-law and the little one, AbRam Khan and had captioned it, "Happy birthday, Mom." Shah Rukh had reposted Gauri’s tweet, and had added to the caption, "May you always be as funny and full of life as you are."
On September 8, 2020, as Savita Chhiba celebrated her birthday, her doting daughter, Gauri Khan took to her social media handles to wish her mom. Gauri tweeted a throwback picture with her mom and captioned it as "Happy birthday.. Mom" followed by a heart emoticon. One of the fan pages of Shah Rukh Khan posted a picture of Savita ji, dancing with her heart and soul dressed in a beautiful traditional outfit. “Happy birthday @chhibasavita ma’am. An abundance of good health, happiness and love for many years to come” was written atop the picture. Gauri reposted the picture on her IG stories and added Shah Rukh’s song, Deewangi Deewangi from the film, Om Shanti Om in the background. This is the same picture that Gauri had posted in 2018 to mark her mother’s birthday. She had captioned it as “Happy birthday mom... the secret of staying young... dance... dance... dance.”
During the lockdown, when we had a lot of time in our hands, the favourite pastime was to dig throwback pictures from photo albums and reminisce those beautiful memories. When it came to celebs, while some had shared beautiful memories from their archive, for some, their fan clubs had dug deep down to share it on social media. A few weeks ago, Gauri Khan had reposted a picture from one of her fan clubs, which had Shah Rukh Khan and her mother, Savita Chhiba in the frame. Sharing the priceless memory with her husband and her mother on her IG stories, Gauri wrote, "Old is gold" with a golden heart sticker atop it. It was just a few months back when Suhana Khan had made her Instagram account public and to mark Mother’s Day 2020, she had posted a wish for her interior designer mother, Gauri Khan. Revealing that she’s ‘kinda mad’ about one thing from her mother, Gauri, Suhana had written, "Happy Mother's Day Ma. Honestly, kinda mad that I don't look like you." Pat came a perfect motherly reply from Gauri as she had reposted the picture and had written, “I love you @suhanakhan2” with a heart emoji. In her Mother’s Day post, Gauri had posted a collage comprising of her picture with her mom, Savita Chhiba, her elder son, Aryan Khan, daughter, Suhana and youngest one, AbRam Khan. Gauri had captioned it as “Maternal bonds .. happy Mother’s Day.”
When Gauri Khan had appeared on Koffee With Karan season 1, she was asked about the difference in her and Shah Rukh Khan’s religion. Gauri had said, "Shah Rukh, he doesn't have parents, unfortunately. If they were there, the elderly people in the house, they would have taken care. But, it's nothing like that in our house. It's me who takes charge be it Diwali or Holi or any festival. So that's why influence of my kids would be a lot with the Hindu part of the ... but the thing is that, Aryan is so into Shah Rukh that he would follow his religion, I feel. He would always say 'I am a Muslim'. When he tells this to my mother, she gets, 'what do you mean?'."
