In recent years, Indian hip-hop has started making its mark in the global rap industry. Some of the most recognised Indian rappers are Divine, KRSNA, Brodha V, Emiway Bantai, MC Stan, Dino James, Naezy, and Tsumyoki. However, with the passing of each year, we are seeing so many young rappers make their way into the Indian rap culture. In recent years, we have seen a series of upcoming Indian rappers making their mark in the Indian rapping circuit.
Moreover, there are also some Indian rappers who rap in English and are making their voices heard on the international stage. One such rapper, who has broken the YouTube with his one track is Hanumankind, whose real name is Sooraj Cherukat. The rapper released his song, Big Dawgs on July 10, 2024, with the caption, "Pushing culture baby, got that product you can't measure." The video has hit more than 3.7 million views and 290K likes in just two weeks.

The music video has taken YouTube by storm and even performed incredibly well on Instagram. As of now, the small clip from the song which Hanumankind uploaded on his IG handle on July 10, has hit 4.5 million views.

With numerous rap-related pages and communities talking about the track, Big Dawgs, Hanumankind is currently leading all the headlines. Apart from Hanumankind's verses, people are stunned by the quality of its music video.

For the uninitiated, Bijoy Shetty is the filmmaker who directed the music video, while Abinay Pandit is the director of photography. The Indian rapper, Hanumankind joined hands with Brown Crew Productions in order to make his music video, Big Dawgs. Before the success of Big Dawgs, Hanumankind released a series of hit songs like Go To Sleep, Rush Hour, Skyline, Damnson, Genghis, Beer and Biryani, No Hook, Bottle of MH, Wildshit, Daily Dose, and Southside.
It was back in November 2019, when Hanumankind dropped his first-ever music video, Southside, on YouTube. In the span of the last five years, Hanumankind has been featured in a series of renowned global platforms like VICE, FirstPost, The Times Of India, VH1 Supersonic, Casa Bacardi, Nh7 Weekender, Under25, ColorsxStudios Blog, Indian Express, and many more. The major highlight of Hanumankind's career so far is the fact that he was featured in Netflix's Namma Stories.

Hanumankind's track, Big Dawgs is getting a lot of limelight from listeners around the world. However, it has irked a section of listeners, who trolled the singer for his attire, skin colour, and race. It was heartbreaking to see so many people dropping racist comments in the comment section of his music video. One user wrote, "I can smell him through the video," another netizen commented, "Dude made it outta the kachori soup guy."

On one side, while some people were making fun of Hanumankind and his song, Big Dawg, it was the Indian billionaire, who has lauded the young rapper for his work. On July 28, 2024, Anand Mahindra took to his X handle (formerly known as Twitter) and praised Hanumankind for his vocals and video direction. An excerpt from his tweet can be read as:
"Rap may not be for everyone, but this guy from Kerala & now Bengaluru via Texas is popping eyes across to U.S for his authentic sound & his extraordinary, raw videos."
Once, in an old interview with Rolling Stone India, Hanumankind was asked about his decision not to pick his real name, Sooraj Cherukat. In response to it, Sooraj indirectly stated that he chose the name 'Hanumankind' without being sure about it. Calling life 'super unpredictable', Sooraj admitted that he lives life one day at a time and is building something that lasts. It will be interesting to see how Hanumankind's career is going to unfold after the massive success of Big Dawg.
