Bollywood's 'He Man', Dharmendra, passed away in November 2025 at his Mumbai home. The veteran actor was 89 when he passed away after suffering from health issues for a long time that included respiratory complications. Dharmendra was hospitalised for a brief period of time. The 'He-Man' is known for his epic love story with his 'Basanti' a.k.a Hema Malini. The couple was known for their evergreen love story, and now it seems Hema Malini has been dealing with constant breakdowns after the demise of her husband, Dharmendra.

Dharmendra had done classic films and had a career spanning more than sixty years. His notable movies include Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Mera Gaon Mera Desh, which showcased his versatile acting chops. He left an evergreen mark in Hindi cinema and was known for his love story with his 'Dream Girl', Hema Malini. The actress sat down for an interview with the Hindustan Times and revealed that she is a strong person but does have breakdowns. This is because for half of her life, she worked as a co-actor with Dharmendra, apart from him being her life partner. A teary-eyed Hema Malini had mentioned:

"What we have done in the past will remains as memories for the audience now. I'm glad that more than half my life was spent as a co-artiste as well as him being my life partner. It's not possible to accept that he has gone, I think of it and get teary eyed but we have to get out of the sadness and I'm a strong person. However strong you are it's not possible, breakdown toh hota hai.”

Dharmendra passed away on November 24, 2025. The actor was admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy hospital and passed away at his Juhu residence. He was cremated at Pawan Hans in Mumbai, where his friends, endless fans, had come to give him the final goodbye. Hema Malini also revealed that, during shootings, she used to take her guruji, who had become friends with Dharmendra. According to the actress, her guruji and Dharmendra loved the fact that, through dance, women were preserving Indian tradition.

For the unversed, it was in 1980 that Hema Malini and Dharmendra got married and then were blessed with two daughters- Esha and Ahana Deol. Dharmendra was already married to Prakash Kaur and had four kids when he fell in love with Hema Malini and married her. There is not a minute when Hema Malini does not miss Dharmendra's presence, and earlier in an interview with Variety, she said she misses her husband and that the actress keeps herself busy. In her words:

“I miss him every single minute. I keep asking myself, is he really gone? When will I meet him again? If any good film role comes my way I will do it, kuch achcha aata hi nahi. I'm not sure about OTT. Dharamji loved watching me dance and would say I should never stop because it's important to be mentally and physically fit."

Hema Malini misses Dharmendra

For the unversed, February 24, 2026, was a tough day for the Deol family. Hema Malini shared that all the associates, Dharmendra's spot boy, everyone is sad, and they keep coming to her and revive memories of how they used to give chai to Dharmendra sahab. The void remains as Dharmendra was a legend of Indian cinema. Hema Malini had also revealed that she has not watched all the movies of Dharmendra, but loved his work in Sholay. This is because she is reminded of the evergreen memories she made with Dharmendra on the movie's sets.
