25-Yr-Old Techie Commits Suicide After 6 Months Of Goa-Wedding, Family Alleges Husband's Dowry Abuse

Weddings and dowries are often kept in an equal format and have been common in culture for years. Although people don't believe in this that much anymore, traces of it are still in action, which comes along with a heavy after-effect. A similar thing happened to a Hyderabad-based techie named Devika, who reportedly was pushed and pressured so much that she had to take the drastic step of ending her life.

25-year-old Hyderabad techie, K Devika commits suicide for alleged dowry abuse

A Hyderabad-based 25-years-old techie named, K Devika got married to her beau, Satish Chandra six months ago, in a lavish wedding soiree in Goa. Reportedly, they met at their office and had been in a relationship for two years. The couple is the only kids to their parents, and both work in a Bangalore-based MNC as techies. In a surprising turn of events, it was on March 2, 2025, when Devika committed suicide in her Hyderabad home.

Reportedly, before taking this drastic step, Devika had a fight with her husband, Satish, following which, she locked herself in her room. Initially, Satish thought that she was sleeping, but when she remained unresponsive even the next day, her husband broke the door and found her hanging in her room. He then informed the police and their family members about the same.

After this incident, Devika's family lodged an FIR against Satish and claimed that he had been harassing the late techie for the last few months for dowry. Devika's family also alleged that Satish was demanding a family-owned flat in Nizampet and a plot to be transformed to his name. Satish, who is an alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, and Devika, who completed her studies in Bengaluru, reportedly moved to Hyderabad a couple of months ago for a transfer to the local office.

Devika and Satish had several serious arguments since the time they got married 

Police revealed that after Devika and Satish's wedding, several arguments took place between the couple, so much so that their family had to interfere to sort things out between them. Talking about the incident, police said that on March 2, 2025, the couple fought and Satish stormed out of the apartment and didn't pick up Devika's call.

When Satish returned home, he had a spare key so he slept in the next room as Devika was not opening her room's door. On the next day, Satish had to break the door when Devika remained unresponsive. Talking to the police, Devika's mom shared that she had already given money and jewellery to Satish as dowry, but after the wedding, he kept demanding the flat and plot to be transformed to his name. Devika's mom demanded strong punishment for Satish, stating that she only had a daughter, and now she is also lost.
