Bollywood actor, Imran Khan became an instant favourite among fans after his film debut with Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na in 2008. He was once the industry’s poster boy for romantic comedies, and fans loved his charming on-screen presence. After a hiatus from the silver screen, Imran is once again making headlines for his much-anticipated comeback. The actor recently recalled an event, revealing how he and his co-host, Ranbir Kapoor, tackled the pressures of hosting an awards show.
Imran Khan recently had a candid chat on the Moments of Silence podcast, where he made some nostalgic confessions. During the conversation, the actor talked about the time he and Ranbir Kapoor hosted the Filmfare Awards in 2009. Hosting and awards night can be quite a challenge, but for Imran Khan, who was relatively new to the industry, it was downright terrifying. Imran shared:
“Honestly, the awards night was quite stressful because I was less than a year in the industry and knew that people like Mr. (Amitabh) Bachchan would be in the front row. It was very scary.”
However, Imran's co-host in the show, Ranbir Kapoor, had a solution to deal with the jitters of going on the stage. The actor shared how after the dress rehearsal, Ranbir came to him with a bottle of expensive vodka to sip on in between stage appearances. Imran recalled:
“After the dress rehearsal, Ranbir showed up with expensive vodka. Every time we were off the stage, we had a few sips before getting back on to continue with the show. It helped us keep our nerves in check.”
Further into the podcast, Imran shared that despite being associated with the industry for so many years, he has never really felt the level of confidence that is required to have a prominent stage presence. Whenever he attends ramp walks or hosts shows, he is more worried about keeping himself steady and not falling down. This was another reason that he was terrified of hosting the show. He shared:
“I have never been comfortable with stage shows, ramp walks, etc… Actual models walk with a sense of presence, and confidence, and all I’m thinking of is to not fall down on stage. It was harrowing”.
Imran Khan was once a poster boy of Bollywood, delivering back-to-back hits in the Rom-Com genre. His career, which started with the blockbuster, Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, saw hits like Delhi Belly, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, and I Hate Luv Storys. However, after a few underwhelming films, he chose to step away from the limelight. He has been away from the silver screen since the 2015 film, Katti Batti. However, there has been a buzz surrounding Imran’s potential return, as he recently confirmed that he is reviewing scripts. There are rumours that the actor might soon reunite with the Break Ke Baad director, Danish Aslam.
