The buzz started when Indian Idol judge, Shilpa Shetty cheekily teased Badshah on-air, dropping a cryptic hint about their personal lives. During the episode celebrating the '90s era, Shilpa turned the spotlight on Badshah and cheekily remarked:

“Badshah maine suna hai ki din main bhi taare dekh rahe hain aap. Tara dekh rahe hain aap. Arre, 90s ka daur hum log celebrate kar rahe hain, ek gaana yaad aaya mujhe khas taur se sirf aap ke liye. ‘Tan tana tan tan tan Tara. Chalti hai kya 9 se 12?’ Yahi gaana ga rahe hain na aap Tum lal kyu ho gaye ho?"

While fellow judge, Mika Singh looked puzzled at Shilpa’s cryptic remark, Shreya Ghoshal was quick to catch her drift, as she was seen smirking at Shilpa’s clever wordplay. Eventually. Vishal Dadlani also put two and two together and joined in the teasing session. Everyone realised that Shilpa was teasing Badshah about his rumoured fondness for Tara Sutaria, who also recently made a guest appearance on the show.

In a Reddit thread, users shared their mixed opinions on the same. While some tagged the incident as “just another scripted gimmick”, others chimed in, saying that they could be a fun duo. One user wrote, “Tara Sutaria. Either Badshah has too good of a poker face or we will be getting another "Aisa kuch nahi he" insta story from him lol.” Another dismissed the buzz and wrote, “As usual everything is scripted, even this. So, don't be surprised. Met a PR company person, says even relationships, when to disclose them or hide them & what photos they click and post are suggested by them.”
