Mandala Murders is a thriller drama inspired by the fictional crime novel, The Butcher Of Benares, which was written by Mahendra Jakhar. While the show feels realistic because of its characters, narrative and investigative themes, it is entirely fictional. 

The thriller show was created by Gopi Puthran, who very beautifully layered this story with mythology, suspense, and psychological depth, but everything under a fictional framework. There is no record of any real case involving similarities with this show, Mandala Murders. 

Is 'Charandaspur' town real or fictional?

The town of 'Charandaspur', where all the murders take place in this series, looks horrifyingly real, but it is not a real town in India. It is a fictional town written by the author of the novel. However, the authenticity in the show comes because it is shot in real towns in Uttar Pradesh, which were very carefully chosen so that it visually looks real according to the theme and narrative of it. 

Some viewers also confused the fictional town, 'Charandaspur' with a real town, Chandrapur, which is in Maharashtra, but there is no connection with it either. The main shoot happened in March 2023, and actor, Vaibhav Raj Gupta also shared on his Instagram that he and his team of Mandala Murders were in Pragyaraj for shoot.

The show, Mandala Murders is set in India, where the plot revolves around a town, where brutal murders take place and two cops try to solve a series of mysterious murders. As the investigation continues, more dark secrets are revealed, which very beautifully blend action and suspense. 

The show, Mandala Murders stars Vaani Kapoor, who made her OTT debut with this. Along with her, the show stars talented actors like Vaibhav Raj Gupta (who is known for his role in Gullak), Jameel Khan, and Surveen Chawla. Each and every actor brings their own magic and layer in the narrative.
