Ian Botham's Crocodile Escape Post Surfaces Amid Jessica Radcliffe's Fake Orca Attack Video

In the world of AI, it has become difficult to distinguish between reality and fiction. Clips are made via AI tools, and one such video that went viral was of marine trainer, Jessica Radcliffe, being attacked by an orca fatally, which was actually fabricated and untrue. Amid this, the post of England's legendary cricketer, Ian Botham's account surfaced, where he actually got saved from a death experience in a crocodile-infested river while he was on a fishing trip in Northern Australia back in 2024. The attention to Ian's clip came after Jessica's fabricated video went viral.

Ian Botham escaped serious injuries in the crocodile-infested Moyle River

Clips created with AI tools always demonstrate that, in reality, the event or incident has taken place. On one hand, Jessica's video went viral on TikTok, Facebook, and X. Although the sensational hoax was debunked, in 2024, Botham escaped serious injuries after a mishap occurred 200 kilometres southwest of Darwin in the crocodile-infested Moyle River. Botham reportedly was moving between boats with his friends and Merv Hughes, a former Australian cricketer, when he got tangled in ropes and slipped headfirst into the water. His old post from the middle of the sea went viral, where he was seen holding fish and speaking about his death experience. In his words:

"My catch of the day was the barra while I was nearly catch of the day for all the crocs and bull sharks… thanks boys for getting me out."

Botham was on a four-day fishing expedition with his former Australian rival when things took an ugly turn. He had a close call with a saltwater crocodile when his footwear got caught on a rope, which made him fall. In the now-viral post he shared, Ian was seen severely bruised. The river was also home to bull sharks, apart from saltwater crocodiles, reportedly. He escaped safely but with just heavy bruises near his torso and no major injuries.

When netizens praised Ian Botham for getting out of a crocodile-related death experience

A fishing experience for Ian turned eerie, and a fan seeing him being saved commented, "Very lucky to get out of that with just a few bruises!" Another user wrote, "Glad you have all your digits and limbs in tact Bruce! Glad you are ok Ian! We can’t wait to hear all about it at our upcoming breakfast with you and Merv." A fan shared that Ian had a close call experience and wrote, "Wow - sounds like a close call. Great fish though - well done. It must be an amazing experience spending time with your old “adversaries”. I grew up watching you play and have been hooked ever since. Thank you and so glad you’re safe." In a press statement, Ian shared:

"I was out of the water quicker than I went in. Quite a few sets of [crocodile] eyes were having a peep at me. Luckily I had no time to think about what was in the water. The guys were brilliant, it was just one of those accidents."

The real truth about Jessica Radcliffe's fake video

Reports were going around that an orca was triggered by Jessica's menstrual blood when she was performing, which was not at all true. There has been no evidence related to the attack, and when fact checks were done, there were no records, reports, statements or obituaries found.
