Motherhood is the best feeling of this world. The moment a woman gets to know about the news of expecting a child, her entire life takes a U-turn and the preparations to welcome her child begin. Dealing with pregnancy pangs and food cravings, an expecting mother undergoes through a lot of emotional turmoil but still, the hope of holding her baby within months keeps her going. After undergoing all the physical and emotional imbalances, when a mother gets to hold her baby for the first time, all the pains to bring her child into this world seem worth it. Kalki Koechlin is one such would-be-mother who is on cloud nine these days. Kalki has been counting days and can't wait for the day when she will finally get to see her baby’s face. Kalki had announced her pregnancy out of wedlock on September 29, 2019, with her Israeli classic pianist boyfriend, Guy Hershberg. The actress, who is expecting her baby in January 2020 was earlier against the idea of motherhood but her pregnancy has changed her entire concept of motherhood and parenting.
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Kalki opened about her pregnancy and the preparations she is making before welcoming her little bundle of joy. She opened up about learning lullabies for her baby, one in Tamil called Kanne Kanmani, others from French, Bengali and Portuguese. She further stated, “I am enjoying playing the ukulele and that’s pretty nice. They say that babies can start hearing from 27 weeks so it’s nice to have these good influences around. I have to take it step by step for every trimester there are new challenges. Thankfully, I have a wonderful midwife who’s helping me prepare for labour and is also teaching me about breastfeeding and about all the things a baby needs in the first few months.”
When asked about the one major change she has experienced in her body during her pregnancy, she replied by saying that her first trimester was terrible as she faced horrible morning sickness and vomiting but the second trimester had been kind to her and she started enjoying the whole process of feeling her baby growing inside her. She also revealed that she is taking extreme care about her eating habits and is very conscious of the food she is taking. The Dev D actress said that she is missing riding her bike and is doing all sort of activities to have a natural birth. She also added, “I am missing my bike for sure as I used to go biking regularly. Obviously, now I am not biking but am looking forward to getting back on my bike afterwards. I also played basketball on a regular basis so I had to stop that. I had to stop every impact based work. But I continue to do swimming and practice yoga because I have to be very fit if I want to have a natural birth.” She also revealed the reason why she opened about her pregnancy so late and stated, her doctor had asked her to do so as there are a lot of risks during the first trimester.

In an interview with the Mid-Day, Kalki had opened up on her wedding plans with her beau, Guy. She had revealed that she doesn't want to rush into a marriage just because she is pregnant and had stated, "We are not averse to marriage, but we don’t want to rush into it just because I am pregnant. If it is necessary for the documentation, bureaucracy and school registrations of our child, we will consider it. But when it comes to our romantic commitments, we have enough validation from each other, and our families, too."
