'Kantara Chapter 1' First Reviews, Rishab Shetty, Rukmini Vasanth's Film Receives Mixed Reactions

Kantara Chapter 1 is going to release on October 2, 2025. Within a few hours, fans of Rishab Shetty will witness his high-octane performance in the theatres. However, the internet is abuzz with early reactions. It is believed that the film will have grand visuals with a nerve-chilling experience. It is a prequel to the 2022 release, Kantara, which was a superhit. The movie helped Rishab Shetty win a National Award. 

Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 

The mythological action drama has been penned and helmed by Rishab Shetty, who also played the lead role. The film is set in a pre-colonial coastal region of Karnataka. It shows the reign of the Kadambas of Banavasi. The film delves into the ancient origins of the Bhuta Kola ritual and explores the region's mythological tales.

The film blends spirituality, regional folktales and action together, making it one of a kind. The film also stars Jayaram, Rakesh Poojari, Rukmini Vasanth as 'Kanakavathi' and Gulshan Devaiah as 'Kulashekara'. The film will release pan Indian in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. 

Reviews of Kantara Chapter 1

Film critic, Kuldeep Gadhavi revealed that the film gives pure goosebumps from start to finish. The film has a runtime of 2 hours and 48 minutes. With a powerful cinematic experience. Gadhavi added that the first half of the movie is slow, but it picks up after the interval. He called the film outstanding and wrote:

"This film is pure goosebumps from start to finish! With a runtime of 2 hours and 48 minutes, it is a powerful cinematic experience. The first half may feel like a slow burn but once the second half begins, the grip and intensity take the film to another level - absolutely outstanding. Kantara Legend Chapter 1 is a class film - a prequel that explodes with brilliance. It's not just a movie, it's an experience that will shake the box office at a BAAP level. A must watch for every cinema lover."

Another film critic, Umair Sandhu, called the film overrated and wrote, "First Review #KantaraChapter1 ! All that glitters is not gold ! Overrated & Weird kind of film." Another user wrote, "Trailer wasn't great too. Let's see. Your OG movie review was accurate. I don't know whether your reviews are just a hit and miss or genuine reviews."

Kantara Chapter 1's advance booking

Let us inform you that Kantara Chapter 1 is the most anticipated film. According to Money Control, advance bookings for the film started on Sunday. Soon, the film sold over 1.7 lakh tickets, making almost Rs. 5.7 crore in pre-sales. It is worth mentioning that the first instalment of the film collected Rs. 2 crore on it's opening day in 2022.  

According to a report by Siasat, Rishab didn't take a single rupee as payment for his work in the film. So, in other words, Rishab Shetty would get his earnings from the movie's box office performance. It is also worth noting that Kantara: Chapter 1 had a massive budget of Rs. 125 crore, and Rishab is also an investor in the film.
