Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, has gained a lot of attention for its ensemble cast and gripping storyline. However, a dialogue from the Netflix show caught the attention. A while ago, the OTT giant released a one-minute and sixteen-second video, where renowned filmmaker Karan Johar is seen saying to Lakshya a.k.a Laksh Lalwani, "Don’t f**k with a movie mafia." This dialogue was nothing but a dig at the Queen actress, Kangana Ranaut, who once called him 'movie mafia.'

When Kangana Ranaut called Karan Johar a 'movie mafia'

Earlier in 2017, Kangana Ranaut appeared on the Karan Johar-hosted show, Koffee With Karan, alongside Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor to promote her film, Rangoon. During a fun segment, the host asked her who had shown her an unnecessary attitude in the industry. Kangana, who is known for her straightforward nature, pointed at him and said, "It’s you, Karan," without any hesitation. She didn’t stop there—she also called him the 'movie mafia' and the 'flagbearer of nepotism,' hinting at promoting star kids over outsiders in Bollywood.

Karan Johar opened up about being called a 'movie mafia'

Earlier in a 2023 interview with Sucharita Tyagi, Karan opened up about being tagged as a 'movie mafia'. Recalling the incident, he shared that the past few years have been tough for him, as he had to face a lot of hatred. The situation worsened because Karan’s mother, Hiroo Johar, was deeply affected by the harsh words used against her son on TV and social media. He also mentioned that people started assuming and created a false image of him without knowing him well. He was quoted as saying:

"In the last three years, I felt there was a lot of hate that was coming my way and it had really taken a toll on my mom…All I had to be was resilient at that time because I had to be strong for my own mom and for myself. You feel kind of naked after that has happened. Abhi toh kapde utar di hai sabne. Abhi kya chupana? They don’t know the person I am. They just made this perception of mafia or something they keep talking about."
