Not Kim Sae Ron? Kim Soo Hyun Allegedly Had A Secret Girlfriend During Military Days

The controversy surrounding Korean actor, Kim Soo Hyun’s dating scandal with late actress, Kim Sae Ron seems to be far from over. A new detail has come forward surrounding the Queen of Tears star’s dating history, which suggests that Kim Soo Hyun was romantically involved with a fellow actor when he was in the military, further complicating the case, as the dates clash with his alleged dating timeline with Kim Sae Ron.

New report claims Kim Soo Hyun dated another actress

On April 26, 2025, a new report by the K-media outlet Money Today presented new details surrounding Kim Soo Hyun’s dating history. The actor was allegedly in a three-year relationship with an idol-turned-actress (Actress A) during his mandatory military service from 2017 to 2019. Industry insiders also revealed that the two were labelmates under the same management company, adding that their relationship was a well-known secret in the industry. This revelation contradicts the narrative that he was seeing Kim Sae Ron at that time, as alleged by the late actress’s family. The insider quoted by Money Today said:

“It was a well-known secret in the entertainment business that Kim Soo Hyun and actress A were dating, so it’s unlikely he was seeing Kim Sae Ron at the same time.”

Sources additionally claimed that during his military days, Kim often sent handwritten letters to the unnamed actress, further confirming the closeness between the two. Their three-year-long relationship reportedly ended somewhere around Spring 2019, a few months before the Knock-Off actor completed his service and left the agency to co-found his own agency, Gold Medalist. 

Kim Soo Hyun’s dating information challenges allegations about Kim Sae Ron

This new information directly challenges claims made by Kim Sae Ron’s family after the actress’s demise. For those unaware, the controversy surrounding Kim Soo Hyun’s dating scandal began after a YouTube video made by the Hoverlab on March 10, 2025, where the channel’s operator, Kim Se-ui, claimed to represent Kim Sae Ron’s family and accused Kim Soo Hyun of maintaining a secret relationship with Kim Sae Ron for six years, allegedly starting when she was just 15, a minor. Hoverlab also released multiple photos and messages as supposed evidence backing those claims. 

However, Kim Soo Hyun has firmly denied these allegations, clarifying that he only dated the late actress briefly between 2019 and 2020, after she had reached adulthood. His agency, Gold Medalist, has also filed criminal charges against Hoverlab’s operator for allegedly spreading misinformation, false rumours, and violating South Korea’s Anti-Stalking Act.

Kim Soo Hyun’s agency is yet to respond to the new revelations

As of now, Kim’s agency, Gold Medalist, has not issued any further statement regarding the actor’s reported involvement with the unnamed idol-turned-actress. Insiders quoted by Money Today suggest that the agency may be refraining from commenting on the matter to protect the said actress’s privacy. They said:

“It seems Kim Soo Hyun’s side is refraining from commenting to keep actress A out of it all.”

Public opinions remain divided

While the new information complicates the case further and supports Kim Soo Hyun’s claim that he did not date Kim Sae Ron while she was underage, fans remain divided in their opinions. After Money Today’s report, while some netizens believe that it clears the actor’s name, others seem to side with the allegations that he might have had multiple ‘concubines’.
