Kumar Mangalam Birla and Neerja had an arranged marriage in 1989. He was just 22 when he married Neerja, who was 18 at that time. We have often seen Kumar heaping praises on his wife by calling her his best friend. The couple welcomed three kids, Ananya, Aryaman, and Advaitesha Birla. Kumar and Neerja are not one of those couples who are often seen in many party circles, as they prefer to spend time with their family.

Kumar Mangalam Birla and Neerja are complete opposites

Kumar and Neerja are totally opposite to each other, and despite this, there is a sense of magnetism in their relationship. More than 35 years of togetherness, Kumar often says that Neerja had grown up with him. Talking about their completely different personalities, Neerja once shared:

“When on a holiday, I am very hyper, I like to start my day early, go and see the sunrise, etc. I don't like to waste any time on my holidays. He (Kumar Mangalam) is not like that at all. He likes to take it easy, start the day late. I don't even believe in changing the other person. Why would you want to change something, because at the end of the day, a person is whole because of everything that is there in him.”

Kumar took the reins of his family business at the age of 28, and took the company to phenomenal heights. While Kumar looked after the business, Neerja gave her heart and soul in raising their kids. Neerja has more influence on her kids, while Kumar adheres to the corporate responsibilities. As per Neerja, she and Kumar are emotionally dependent on each other and that, according to her, makes their relationship work.

“We got engaged and married very young and so we have a very close understanding of each other. We are also best friends besides being a couple.”
