'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2's Smriti Irani Breaks Silence On Buzz About Z+ Security, 'I Was..'

Smriti Irani is an Indian politician and actress who is rising high with her stance both on-screen and off-screen. She made a grand comeback to the small screens after more than a decade with the reboot of the popular serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Recently, she garnered a lot of limelight as she walked the ramp barefoot, making a glorious return to the fashion runway after a 26-year hiatus. However, earlier this year, in June 2025, there was a buzz that Smriti would be provided Z+ security on the sets of Kyunki 2. Now, the actress has reacted to it.

Smriti Irani finally breaks her silence on the buzz around her being provided Z+ security on the sets of Kyunki 2

In a recent interview with Mashable India for The Bombay Journey, the show’s host, Siddhaarth Aalambayan, asked Smriti about the most viral rumour related to her serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, which is that the latter is provided Z+ security on the sets. Hearing the question, Smriti was quick to respond that the buzz made her laugh. The actress mentioned that she was quite surprised by the news. In her words:

"I was really surprised when this news about me was circulated, that I would be shooting under Z security, with tight protection. I had a hearty laugh."

Recalling a moment from the sets of Kyunki 2, Smriti shared in the same interview that a guy from the production team once held an umbrella to make it look grand. However, the incident left Smriti in splits as she had never received this kind of special treatment. She was quoted as saying:

"The umbrella guy suddenly appeared with an umbrella near me. Apparently, the production team thought that showing some grandeur was necessary. I was like, 'What is happening? Nothing like this has ever happened to me before!'"

When reports claimed that Smriti Irani would be given Z+ security on the sets of Kyunki 2

Earlier, this year in June 2025, just before the premiere of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2, there was a speculation that Smriti Irani, who plays 'Tulsi Virani' in the TV soap, would be provided Z+ security. It is the highest level of security provided in India by CRPF commandos or other Central Armed Police Forces, such as the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) or the respective State Police. For the unversed, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 premiered on July 29, 2025.

According to a report by India Forums, since Smriti was making her TV comeback after many years and is also an active politician of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the makers of Kyunki 2 have decided to ensure her safety. A source said that everyone’s mobile phones will be tapped on the sets, except Smriti Irani, the show’s producer, Ektaa Kapoor and male lead, Amar Upadhyay. The source was quoted as saying:

"The mobile phones of everyone on the sets, excluding Amar sir, Smriti Mam and Ektaa mam, will be taped. Everyone will be barred from using their mobile phones. Smriti is also shooting with Z plus security and everyone on sets will have to adhere to the strict security protocols laid."
