Famous Malayalam actor, Shanavas passed away at the age of 71 at a private hospital on August 4, 2025. Shanavas was the son of Prem Nazir, who is known to be one of the biggest stars in the Malayalam film domain. It was on January 16, 1989, when Shanavas lost his dad, Prem Nazir, who was known to be Mollywood's everygreen hero. Shanavas is best known for his movies such as Chithram, Prathigna, Inspector Balram, and Neelagiri, to name a few. The late actor once shared how he never missed his late celebrity father, Prem Nazir.

Shanavas revealed once of not missing his dad, Prem Nazir

Shanavas once shared in an interview with the ETimes that his father was a soft-spoken and simple man, unlike his on-screen personality. He was strict with his family members, and the late actor once shared that he was scared of his dad but had huge respect for him. Shanavas had agreed that he was never pampered but guided with love. Prem was soft and lenient towards the three sisters of Shnavas. However, when Shanavas' dad passed away, he did not miss him as he shared:

"I never missed my dad. We hear songs featuring him no matter wherever we are."

Shanavas has done more than 50 Malayalam and Tamil movies

Shanavas was seen in more than 50 Malayalam and Tamil films that included Irattimadhuram, Gaanam, Mylanjii, Prasnam Gurutharam, Adhipathyam, Maniyara, Prathigna, Himam and Passport, to name a few. A report by the IMDB stated that Shanavas had also voiced the most famous character of 'Yoga Sir' in the famous TV animated series called, Bandbudh Aur Budbak. The late star was also seen in TV serials such as Shankhumukham, Veluthu Katrina, Kadamattathu Kathanar, and Summer in America, to name a few.

Shanavas made his last comeback in 2022

A report by Manorama Online also stated that Shanavas in 2011 had made his first comeback with China Town after a long hiatus. The actor was last seen in the movie, Jana Gana Mana back in 2022, next to Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film also had Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mamta Mohandas, Vincy Aloshious, Rajesh Babu, Dhruvas, Sri Divya, Shammi Thilakan, Priyanka Nair and many more in important roles. The drama thriller movie was directed by Dijo Jose Antony, while Sharis Mohammed wrote the same. The late actor, apart from being known for his film, Premageethangal, was also seen in Mylanji, Mouna Raagam, Manithali, Gaanam, Aazhi, Maharajavu, Hinam, Chithram, Koritharicha Naal and many more. However, Mohanlal starrer, China Town, which also had Shanavas, became a superhit movie.

Shanavas did act opposite his dad, Prem Nazir

Shanavas was lucky and privileged to get the opportunity to act next to his dad, Prem Nazir, in many movies. It started off with Ivan Oru Simham, and his last movie was Jana Gana Mana back in 2022. The thriller movie was critically acclaimed and also featured Prithviraj Sukumaran. The screen presence of the star did not diminish even later. Shanavas off the big screen was known to have a calm as well as thoughtful personality. His colleagues remembered him as a sincere, humble as well as a dedicated star.
