Mandira Bedi Shares Being Told To Back Off When 'Mihir' Cheated On 'Tulsi' With Her In 'KSBKBT'

Mandira Bedi has been a popular TV host and an actress for a good amount of line. She has been a part of the entertainment industry for three decades now and has been a part of many good TV shows, apart from a few films. Do you remember the actress from Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay's hit TV serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? Mandira shared how she was slammed for playing a negative role and spoiling the love life of Smriti, who played 'Tulsi' and Amar, who essayed 'Mihir' in the show.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi was a sanskari saas bahu serial where Smriti's character was shown to keep the family tied together. Now, Mandira, in an interview with Times Now Digital, shared that she was criticised for her role in the serial, and people slammed her for letting Mihir cheat on Tulsi. In her words:

"When I played a negative character in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, people were like 'why don't you leave Mihir? Mihir belongs to Tulsi'. And I was like, hey back off! Mihir and Tulsi are together onscreen and I am playing a character. They took it personally. That's how people get involved in shows that are popular and that are these daily soaps."

There was a track where 'Mihir' was seen cheating on his wife, 'Tulsi', with Mandira's character. Fans who had rooted for 'Mihir' and 'Tulsi' did not like Mandira's character coming in the middle and letting 'Mihir' commit adultery. Fans of the show went insane and forgot that it was just a serial and not the case in reality. This was something that the actress did not experience before, and credited that Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (KSBKBT) was such a hit that it blurred the lines of reality and fiction.

Did you know that before Mandira played a negative role in Smriti and Amar's Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, she had played a pivotal role in a show named, Shanti. However, she had to leave the show in six months as she got selected for DDLJ. Mandira had, in a way, changed her beat from TV to movies and shared:

"Because it was a popular show, I got a call from Yash Chopra's office. They wanted to cast me as Preeti. It was Karan Johar who called me; he was assisting on the film. It was fun. It was a small role in a big film and it feels very nice to be a part of history."

Ektaa Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms had produced the cult classic favourite show of the 90s kids- Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. It used to air on Star Plus from 2000 to 20008 and was one of the most iconic TV soaps in the history of Indian TV. It had a dedicated fan base who used to watch all the episodes of 'Tulsi' and  'Mihir'. The plot of the serial was around the 'Virani parivaar', whose ideal daughter-in-law was Smriti. Her loyalty towards her family had won the hearts of all.
