If you have no plans for the evening, go catch the latest Yashraj flick ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan’ and I bet you will come up with a dozen things you could have done instead. Yes, the movie is actually this inspiring.
The title gives enough insights into the plot of the movie and this makes you feel as if you are at the same creativity level as the script writer.

Kush (Imran Khan) is looking for a bride for his elder brother Luv (Ali Zafar) and after conducting a search across the length and breadth of the country, Kush and family zero in on Katrina (Dimple) as the perfect bride. Katrina and Imran had met before at a youth camp and at the time nothing at all happened between the two of them. However, as the day of engagement draws nearer, Katrina and Imraan realize their love for each other and the rest of the movie is about how the two of them went about convincing their respective families.
Imraan is perpetually confused in the movie, Ali Zafar has been underused and the only person who keeps the film interesting is Katrina Kaif (surprising, eh?). YRF’s Katrina is everything that Rajshri’s Amrita Rao (Vivah) was not.
What more, this is not the first movie where Katrina’s character falls in love with the wrong person and then realizes her love for the hero. Still, Katrina’s performance scores better than Imran’s and we think Imran for the time being should only act in the movies by his uncle Aamir. You know Imran, not everyone is lucky to have a God-Father like figure in the industry as you do. So, please try to make the most of your blessings.
Ali Abbas Zafar, the director of Mere Brother ki Dulhan uses other YRF movies for reference and therefore you get to see so many parallels from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayengey. Instead of adding value to the movie, these clichéd references spoil the beauty of the scenes from DDLJ that were responsible for its tremendous success. Chemistry between Imran and Katrina does not come even an inch closer to the chemistry between Raj and Simran in DDLJ.
Neither the character of Imran, nor the character of Katrina can be the role models for the Indian brides and groom. Come on, you can’t even dance on the title track for your brother’s wedding sangeet, unless and until you are either married or less than 12 years of age. There are bound to be some unflattering allusions to the plot of the movie.
Good people (come on, Imran and Katrina are good and famous), Good Clothes (outfits are really cool) and Good cinematography constitute a few good reasons to watch the movie. And it is not as if you are all that spoilt for choice because the only other option to Mere Brother ki Dulhan is Salman Khan’s Bodyguard, which I am sure you’ve already watched.
