It is celebration time for Michael Jordon as his four-decade-long dream turned reality at the 68th running of the Daytona 500. It was his childhood fascination with racing which turned into a historic achievement when Tyler Reddick drove the No.45 for Jordon's 23XI Racing as he crossed the finish line first in NASCAR's season-opening Great American Race. While fans know all about his achievements, let's turn a few pages of his personal life, and about his first wife!
Juanita Vanoy was born on June 13, 1959, in Chicago. She was the fifth girl in her family and had attended Fenger Academy High School, where she played on the girls' basketball team. After graduation, Vanoy worked on getting her associate's degree from a local community college. Over the years, she worked for many organisations, including the American Bar Association and the real estate investment management firm, Heitman Financial Services. She was working as a loan officer at a Chicago bank when she first met Jordan.

Michael Jordon and Juanita Vanoy met each other in March 1985. They were introduced by mutual friends at a Bennigan's restaurant in Chicago. On the same day, she had watched a Bulls basketball game and watched Jordan play from the crowd. However, at that time, she had no idea that he would become her husband.

Before getting married, they dated for several years. Jordon popped the question on New Year's Eve in 1987. Soon, Juanita became pregnant before getting married, and the wedding took a backseat. There was a time when she even filed a paternity suit as he wasn't taking any accountability towards her and their then-unborn child.

After which, Vanoy gave birth to their son in November 1988, and 10 months later, the couple got married at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas at 3:30 a.m. Jordon once admitted that he kept the wedding private as he thought his friends would oppose him and stop their marriage. That’s how we got married at 3:30 a.m. in a wedding chapel. I did say, ‘Five years from now, maybe we can do a church wedding.’ And that’s what Juanita’s banking on. She says she was robbed of those precious moments."
However, during 12 years of marital life, Juanita Vanoy kept questioning Michael's loyalty. She even went on to hire a privcate investigator who followed him for four years. During the investigation, Michael Jordon was spotted with six difference women. It was the end of their marriage. She filed the divorce and the situation was made public.

However, Jordon took support of his work which helped him and move on in life. At that time, the couple was parents of three children, and Vanoy sought custody of their kids and Chicago mansion and an equitable share of their marital property and a fair and a reasonable sum for temporary and permanent maintenance. She received a monetary payout of USD 168 million, which was one-third of Jordon's net worth at that time, ownership of the mansion and the full custody of their children.
