'Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning' Review: Perfect Blend Of Humour And Action Or A Flawed Fumble?

Tom Cruise's fans had eagerly been waiting for the final instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise. The film's first part was released 30 years ago, and its fandom has only gone up. However, with the final part being released, it has been a bitter-sweet feeling for the fans. So, let's see how they feel about the last drop of the series, Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning.

Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning is an action-packed nostalgic adventure

Tom Cruise fans had been eagerly awaiting the latest instalment of the film series, Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning. It is the final part of the spy action franchise and premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14, 2025. The franchise, which has been a fan favourite for the past three decades, received a five-minute standing ovation from the audience. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film stars Tom Cruise in the lead role and was made with a budget of a massive 400 million US dollars.

Tom Cruise‘s jaw-dropping stunts became the key highlight of the promotions. His mind-blowing helicopter and underwater sequence not only amazed the audience but also spoke volumes about the finesse of how they were carried out. The Final Reckoning gracefully picked up from months after 2023's Dead Reckoning, with Hunt and the IMF team on a mission to stop Gabriel Martinelli from getting access to the world-ending rogue artificial intelligence. The high-stakes action film revolves around the AI known as 'The Entity', a powerful tool which needs to be kept out of Gabriel's reach.

With an 82 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, the film will be released on May 17, 2025, in India, New Zealand, the Philippines and South Korea. The film was first released in Tokyo on May 5, 2025, and then premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. However, with great delay, the film will be released on May 23, 2025, in USA and Canada. After a series of press screenings, the action-packed team is ready to wreak havoc on the enemies.

A user penned, "My official MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FINAL RECKONING review: eh, it was ok." A comment said, "#MissionImpossibleTheFinalReckoning cements its place among the all-time greats in action cinema. With pulse-pounding suspense, jaw-dropping stunts, razor-sharp direction, and impeccable editing, it’s a masterclass in blockbuster filmmaking." A user in a long note penned:

"Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning is fine but flawed. Good combat but there’s not enough. Well stylized editing but too affected by overuse of flashbacks. I wasn’t scared or tense during the third act. It felt appropriately big but not impossible. Too easy to guess"
