Telugu Actor, Mohan Babu Blamed In Soundarya's Death In New Complaint, 21 Years After Her Demise

Sowmya Sathyanarayana, also known by her stage name, Soundarya, is considered among the best Telugu actress to date. She could speak multiple languages fluently and won hearts with her versatile performances in the 90s. But, everyone was left in shock after the young actress passed away tragically in an aircraft crash in 2004. The plane carried renowned guests, including the then CM of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhara Reddy. No foul play was ever found in the case, but a new complaint 21 years after the incident includes a new culprit. 

Telugu actor, Mohan Babu named in new complaint over Soundarya's plane crash

A new complaint has been filed against veteran actor, Manchu Mohan Babu that alleges he was behind Soundarya's plane crash on April 17, 2004. The crash took the life of South Indian actress, Soundarya. For those unaware, the actress gained widespread fame among Hindi audiences after she played Radha opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Sooryavansham. The complaint has been filed by a social activist who is a resident of Satyanarayanapuram village in Khammam Rural Mandal, Khammam district.

The social activist who filed the complaint has demanded a thorough investigation into the case once again after two decades to find if there was any foul play by Mohan Babu over his claims. He also alleged that the veteran actor had threatened him not to go to the authorities and has requested for police protection to safeguard his life. There is no official update on whether the complaint involved evidence.

Why is Mohan Babu blamed for Soundarya's death?

The complaint activist alleged that Mohan Babu wanted the late actress to sell him her six-acre guest house in Jallepalli, Shamshabad. However, her brother, who passed away in the incident with her, refused his request that could allegedly be the reason behind this case. For those unaware, since the plane burst into flames, there was no evidence to ascertain or attribute any wrongdoing in the case. The complainant added that the actor has been using the guest house in question, demanding that the government take over it. On the other hand, Mohan Babu has not commented on it. 

More about Soundarya 

Soundarya was primarily known for her work in Telugu cinema, where she also acted in Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam films. She debuted with the Kannada film, Baa Nanna Preethisu, directed by S. Siddalingaiah, released in April 1992. She worked in films like Ammoru, Pavitra Bandham, Anthahpuram, Raja, Doni Saagali, Dweepa, Sooryavansham and more. The actress was last seen in the film, Apthamitra and her film, Navashakthi Vaibhava, released four years after her demise.

In her personal life, she was the daughter of K. S. Sathyanarayana, a Kannada film writer and producer and Manjula. She tied the knot with G. S. Raghu, a software engineer, on April 27 2003 and was reportedly seven months pregnant when the crash took place.
