Monali Thakur CONFIRMS Divorce From Restaurateur Husband, Maik Richter? Shares 'The Reason' In Post

Monali Thakur's personal life has been in the headlines for the past few days due to her unfollowing her husband, Maik Richter. The couple got married in 2017 and have been living an extremely private life. However, it seems like their marital life hit a rough patch in 2025. Now, Monali shared glimpse of her upcoming music video and called the extreme emotional and physical abuse in the visuals as 'deeply personal'. 

Monali Thakur's cryptic post confirmed her separation from Maik Richter?

Recently, Monali took to her Instagram stories and shared a glimpse of her music video, Ek Baar Phir. The video showed intense physical and emotional abuse. It also had a moment of strangulation. Monali cryptically hinted that the song was one of her 'most personal'. However, the buzz around her divorce intensified as Monali wrote 'The Reason', atop it.

For the uninitiated, Monali and Maik announced their wedding plans in 2020. Before that, they kept it extremely private for the reasons best known to them. Earlier, a report in Hindustan Times revealed that the two were facing issues due to their long-distance marriage. The source said that things have changed over the years, and they are no longer a couple. Also, Monali has unfollowed Maik from Instagram, and his account is private; it is a big sign that something is off in their once-happily-ever-after. The source shared:

“A lot has changed in these years between them; no one talks about them as a couple any more. Long-distance marriages usually do face such endings. Yes, social media cut-off surely is a red flag. Maybe she’s waiting for the right time to come forward and speak on it, and it’s also right that way."

When Monali Thakur revealed how Maik Richter didn't arrive for their registered wedding

Earlier, in an interview with Zoom TV Digital, Monali revealed that Mike didn't arrive for their registered wedding. While people might think of him as a red flag, it wasn't the case. According to Zoom TV Digital, Monali shared with them that Mike didn't have a visa because someone had misinformed him. She stated that Mike was thrown out of India as he didn't have a visa. She was quoted as saying:

"The day Maik was coming to India to do the registration, it was a hilarious episode. We thought we would not get married only. Maik came to India without a visa. Since he had a German passport, some fool told him that he doesn't need a visa. He was not allowed to enter the country. He was thrown out of India. And I was waiting there in the registration office."
