Mrunal Thakur Expresses Her Wish To Work With Dhanush, Amid Dating Buzz With Him, 'Really Sweet...'

Mrunal Thakur is currently hogging the limelight for her film, Do Deewane Seher Mein. The film was released on February 20, 2026. Apart from her professional front, her personal life has been in the spotlight for some time now. For the unversed, Mrunal is rumoured to be dating pan-India actor, Dhanush. Earlier, in 2025, the dating speculation began when Dhanush attended Mrunal’s film, Son of Sardaar 2. In a recent interview, Mrunal spoke about Dhanush and called herself his fan.

Mrunal Thakur calls herself a 'big fan' of Dhanush

Dhanush is a phenomenal pan-India actor. He won hearts with his stellar performances in films like Maari, Raanjhanaa, Asuran and more. He was last seen in the film, Tere Ishk Mein, co-starring Kriti Sanon. In a recent interview with Mirchi Plus, Mrunal spoke about Dhanush’s versatility. She called herself a 'big fan' of his. She lauded him for his strong screen presence. Mrunal was quoted as saying:

"Dhanush sir. I mean, after watching Raayan, Maari, Raanjhanaa, and Captain Miller, I am a big fan of his. Oh my god, Asuran is like. I can watch it multiple times. He’s such an institution, and it takes so much for an actor to be, you know, and to take out that performance from other actors, too."

Mrunal Thakur expresses her wish to work with Dhanush

Further in the interview, Mrunal expressed her wish to work with pan-India actor, Dhanush. The Hi Nanna actress shared that while Dhanush was shooting Tere Ishk Mein, she requested him to come to the screening of her film, Son of Sardaar 2. However, she didn’t know that he would come. Mrunal mentioned that when Dhanush attended the screening of her film, she felt very happy. He called Dhanush’s gesture 'sweet'. She was quoted as saying:

"It so happened that while they were shooting Tere Ishk Mein, I was just like, sir can you please come for the screening of Son of Sardaar? I didn’t know he would come. He just came, and I was so happy. I was like, this is really sweet. I really wish to work with him one day."

Mrunal Thakur and Dhanush's dating buzz

The dating speculation surrounding Mrunal and Dhanush began in 2025, when the pan-India actor attended the Sita Ramam actress’s film premiere, Son of Sardaar 2. And when Mrunal attended the premiere of Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, it further fuelled the speculation. So much so that there was even buzz that the duo would tie the knot this Valentine’s Day, on February 14, 2026. Speaking to Galatta India, the actress set the record straight. She was quoted as saying:

"Me? No. I think 14th April is going to be the 1st April. 14th Feb is going to be the 1st April. April Fools' Day. Because I don’t know who started. First of all. I’ve been quoted, but I never said anything. And they just said, Mrunal said so. I was like, wow, how beautiful. It’s scary."

In fact, a source close to actor, Dhanush had a candid conversation with Money Control, where they addressed the rumours. They shared that Dhanush and Mrunal are good friends, just like any other actors in the industry. They mentioned that the Tere Ishk Mein actor has no plans to get married. The source highlighted that Dhanush and his ex-wife, Aishwaryaa, are currently co-parenting their two children. The source added that Dhanush and Aishwaryaa have always focused on providing a stable and loving environment for the children.

For the uninitiated, Dhanush tied the knot with Rajinikanth’s daughter, Aishwaryaa, in 2004. Their wedding ceremony was held in Chennai. However, after 18 years of marriage, the couple parted ways. Dhanush and Aishwaryaa are parents to two children, Yatra and Linga.
