When MS Dhoni Shared How He Defeated Bangladeshi Players As He Knew Bangla, 'Unko Nai Pata Tha..'

India's former skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, once spoke about an incident where he defeated the Bangladeshi players in a totally unusual manner. Dhoni, once in an event by Team India, shared that when he was batting against Bangladesh, the wicketkeeper of that team was communicating in Bangla with the bowlers. The stunned Bangladeshi bowler had no idea that the brilliant Dhoni could understand Bengali. The ex-skipper understood the communication between the bowler and the keeper.

When MS Dhoni outwitted Bangladeshi players

There was a clip of Dhoni that had once gone viral on social media, and no one could control their laughter. The video showcased the cricketer revealing details about how, with his smart knowledge of the Bengali language, he gave a smart reply to the Bengali players. Dhoni shared that his Bengali skills were polished as he had earlier worked with the Indian Railways during his posting in Kharagpur, a city located in West Bengal. In the words of Dhoni:

"Kharagpur mei mera Railways ka job tha toh uss samay Bengali meri bahut achi thi. Abhi bolunga toh bhool bhal bolunga, kisko kya kharab lag jaega pata nai. Toh aaju baju agar aap Bengali bologe toh mujhe pata hai. Interestingly hum Bangladesh mei match khel rahe thei. Mei batting kar raha tha aur unko nai pata tha ki mujhe Bengali aati hai. Woh keeper udhar se chillake fast bowler ko bol raha tha. Mujhe pehle se pata tha ki woh kya dalne wala hai."

When Dhoni told the Bangladeshi players after the match about his knowledge of Bengali

Dhoni's knowledge of the Bengali language helped him win the match against Bangladesh. He credited the language, which helped him know the strategy of the players during the match, and it was only after the match that the players understood that Dhoni was smart, as he understood Bangla. Dhoni revealed that he could not speak the language fluently, but he was good enough to understand what the Bangladeshi players communicated. After the match was over and the players were discussing, Dhoni went and told them:

"I can understand Bengali."

MS Dhoni is known to be the coolest and the greatest captain of the Indian cricket team. It is said that India will never be able to find a captain like him as he has made  10,773 runs in ODIS, 4,876 runs in Tests, and 1,617 runs in T20. His international cricket career has also been brilliant as he has taken 634 catches.

MS Dhoni's debut cricket match

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's debut cricket match was against the team Bangladesh, which was held on December 23, 2004, at the M A Aziz Stadium, Chattogram. Sadly, he was run out for a duck in his first match for the Indian cricket team. His start to the international cricket career did not start on a good note. However, he retired as the most successful captain of Team India. Fondly called, 'Captain Cool', he made Team India win the  2007 ICC T20 World Cup, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.

Despite having a great career in cricket, Dhoni has never let the seed of success run in his head. It is said that during the 2019 IPL campaign, Dhoni was seen sleeping on the airport floor as he was waiting for his flight. His humble nature had won the hearts of all.
