Veteran Bollywood actress, Mumtaz used to lit up the screen with her alluring presence. Her beautiful smile, unique style, graceful attitude and impressive acting skills made her rule the Hindi film industry in the '60s and '70s. From Do Raaste to Ram Aur Shyam, she won the hearts of the audiences with her impactful performances. However, after 1990, the diva went away from the big screen. Over the years, she gave some interviews but didn't make a comeback. Recently, she was spotted by the media, who asked her about her comeback plans, to which Mumtaz gave an unexpected reply. 

Mumtaz won't play 'aged' roles on the big screen

Mumtaz, who went away from the spotlight decades ago, made headlines in the past days for her insightful interviews. Recently, she interacted with Instant Bollywood, wherein she was asked if she had any plans to make a comeback in the Hindi film industry. In her reply, the 77-year-old diva clarified that she is not going to play aged or stereotypical old roles on the big screen like other actresses of her age. At the same time, she mentioned that she has not received any work offers. When she does get any, she would think about it. In her words:

"Main film mein abhi... dekhiye, main buddhi- wuddhi ka role karne wali hoon nahi. Aur jaisi main lagti hoon, waisa role offer hua nahi hain. Jab hoga tab sochungi."

Mumtaz's unfazed confidence after years left her fans, and the reporter stunned. She further elaborated on her choice for roles in future and explained that she hasn't received work offers for the kind of roles she intends to play. The veteran actress stated that she won't play the role of any actor's mother on-screen. Sharing her perspective, Mumtaz said:

"Mujhe waise offer nahi aaye jaise mujhe chahiye, main kisi ki maa ka role karne wali nahi hoon."

When Mumtaz's video wherein she shared her desire to not play aged roles went viral, several fans rushed to praise her and flooded the comment section with love. One netizen recalled her style back in her prime years and penned, "What a bombshell she was in her times. One of the prettiest. "Another user suggested what kind of roles Mumtaz should play and wrote, "Am a big of yours…you always look ravishing. So you should get the role of a well-established, successful businesswoman or a successful designer. Would be a feast to my eyes to watch her back on-screen."

Mumtaz is a prominent Indian actress who rose to fame in the 1960s and 1970s. She made her debut at the age of 11 as a child actress in Sone Ki Chidiya. The actress went on to give successful films like Do Raaste, Khilona, Aap Ki Kasam, and Roti. Fans particularly admired her pairing with Rajesh Khanna and Shammi Kapoor on-screen. Mumtaz worked in 1977 film, Aaina and left the industry to focus on her family. After 13 years, she made a comeback with Aandhiyan in 1990. However, after the film failed, she retired from acting.
