'She's Your Mom's Age': A Tale Of How 40-Year-Old Nikhil Doshi Fell In Love With 60-Year-Old Geeta

Love knows no bounds — neither age nor societal norms. And the story of Nikhil Doshi (40) and Geeta (60) is a testament to just that. The married couple recently got featured in Brut India, and their unusual love story left everyone in awe. Meet The Unconventional Couple, Nikhil And Geeta

Nikhil Doshi and Geeta’s love is nothing like your run-of-the-mill romances, it is a testament to the power of deep connection, resilience, and the courage to defy all odds. When Nikhil met Geeta back in 2016, she was gradually picking herself up from the trauma of her failed marriage.

Geeta spent 22 years in a marriage that eventually started falling apart after she relocated to Canada with her ex-husband. She found herself at a crossroads when her ex started avoiding her, and one day decided to leave the house. Talking to Brut India, Geeta recalled:

“Ek Diwali pe mere ex ghar chhor ke nikal gaye… maine police ko phone kiya, wo adha ghanta baad bole, he’s safe but he doesn’t want to come home… wo jab wapas aaye, maine unka hath pakad liya or decide kiya ki ab kuch bhi ho jaye, ye haath ab nahi chhorungi.”

After her ex’s return, Geeta spent another six beautiful months with him, but he again left her in 2015. It was during this phase that she met Nikhil, a man 20 years her junior, who would soon become her confidant, support system, and, eventually, her life partner. 

Nikhil and Geeta's love story

Nikhil and Geeta’s relationship started with long conversations, emotional support, and a growing fondness for each other. What began as casual interactions turned into deep, meaningful companionship. By August 2016, Geeta was officially divorced and her ex-husband informed her that he was going to marry a woman from the Philipines. After knowing this, Geeta was devastated and fell extremely sick, while trying to cope with the realisation. 

During this phase, Nikhil stayed by her side and helped her overcome her trauma for the next three years. He also realised that he was falling in love with Geeta. He said:

“Main 3 saal tak uski past ki baatein sunta raha… ek din mere muh se nikal gaya, ‘Geeta, ye sab chhor, mujhse shaadi karegi ki nahi?’”

Defying family and society

Of course, love stories like theirs don’t come without hurdles. Nikhil’s decision to marry Geeta was met with shock and resistance from his family. His mother was heartbroken, and his brother had strong reservations. Geeta, too, had her doubts regarding whether their love could truly transcend such a significant age difference. But Nikhil stood by her side through every hardship and made her want to give love another chance. Gradually, when the families saw their strong feelings for each other, they gradually gave in and accepted their relationship.

Nikhil and Geeta tied the knot in December 2020, and upon seeing their genuine happiness, their families became more accepting of their relationship. Today, Geeta’s mother-in-law proudly flaunts her ‘pyaari bahu’ to the public. Geeta shared:

“Maine socha ki bhale do saal, tin saal, chat saal, paanch saal, jitni humari likhi hui hai… abhi to humare shaadi ko 4 saal bhi ho gaye, and these were the best four years of our lives.”

Today, they stand as a symbol of hope for anyone who has been told that love has an expiration date. “Age is insignificant in the context of a strong relationship,” Geeta affirms.
