Palak Muchhal is one of the most renowned singers in Bollywood. She began her singing career at age three and rose to fame with songs like Kaun Tujhe, Sanam Teri Kasam, Chahun Main Ya Naa, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Dekha Hazaro Dafa and more. Despite avoiding media glares, Palak is admired for her soulful voice, polite personality and social work. The singer tied the knot with music composer, Mithoon in 2022. In a recent interview, Palak gave a special tour of her home and revealed that she has a collection of 3473 dolls. Here's why.
Palak Muchhal recently gave an interview to Mashable where she gave a glimpse into a special room in her home where she keeps a huge collection of 3473 dolls. The singer explained the reason behind her collection and mentioned that each doll in her showcase has a special story. Unlike collecting dolls for play or hobby, Palak has gathered dolls in exchange for every heart surgery she has financed. In her words:
“Yeh hai meri gudiyae and yeh mere liye bahut bahut bahut special collection hai. The count is 3473. Inka count yeh is liye hai because yeh har doll ke peeche ek story hai. Jab bhi mein ek surgery karwati hu jin logo ko nahi pata hai jab bhi mein concert karti hu, main heart patient ki surgery ke liye apna poora remuneration donate karti hu."
Palak has been donating all her earnings from concerts to finance heart surgeries from a young age. The 32-year-old singer has worked towards the cause for the last 25 years. To date, she has saved the lives Of 2473 children and keeps a doll in exchange for every surgery. Sharing how the doll collection is special for her, Palak said:
"25 years ho gaye yeh mission chalate hue. Main bahut chooti thi jab Maine yeh mission shuru kiya and ab tak 2473 children li jaan Bach chuki hai. Har ek surgery ke badle main ek gudiya yaha jama karyi hu toh yeh saari gudiyaan are representations of lives that got saved through my concert. So it's a very special place for me."
Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars in Bollywood, and every fan knows about his social work endeavours. In a previous interview with Femina, Palak revealed that when Salman Khan learned about her work, he gave her the opportunity to sing some songs in his movies like Veer and Ek Tha Tiger, which boosted her career. In her words:
"Thanks to Salman Khan, who heard about my work. I got the opportunity to sing for Ek Tha Tiger. It's great that I can now raise money to support many more children. Music is powerful, but so is fame. And I feel grateful that people come to listen to my songs."
Palak Muchhal began funding heart surgeries with her concert from the age of 8. It all began when she met a 6-year-old boy, Lokesh Kuril, who had a heart defect. His parents asked her to help raise funds for him. Consequently, Palak and Palash held a stage show raising Rs.55,000. They also created a lot of awareness that made a surgeon conduct the surgery for free. After its success, Lokesh's parents gave Palak a doll to express their gratitude for beginning this journey for the singer. Sharing her joy about this special work, Palak said:

"When I saw the tangible difference I was able to make in the lives of young children with a heart condition, it filled me with joy. For me, the dolls signify hope and encouragement. Each doll represents one child whose life I have been able to save. Some dolls come to me as gifts, some I buy myself. The dolls are an everyday reminder, urging me to help someone in the future."
