Nancy Guthrie Case, Person Detained For Questioning In Connection With Her Disappearance Released

American broadcast journalist and Today Show host, Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy Guthrie, has been missing from her Tucson, Arizona home after being last seen at midnight on January 31, 2026. It has been more than ten days, and the cops are still investigating all the possible angles to the case. Earlier, law enforcement officials detained one person for questioning in connection with the case.

The person detained for questioning in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance has been released

The person detained earlier for questioning in the Nancy Guthrie case has now been released. The person in question was located south of Tucson, near Rio Rico, Arizona, roughly an hour away from Nancy Guthrie's home in the Catalina Foothills, where she had been allegedly abducted. According to officials, the detention was based on several investigative leads that had developed over the past few days. However, the person was not charged.

Regarding the person’s identity, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has deferred all questions to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, which has not yet released any additional information. However, the officials have stressed that the individual has not yet been labelled a "suspect". The Pima County Sheriff’s Department also revealed that investigators had completed their search of a property in Rio Rico.

Pics and video of a person of interest in Nancy Guthrie's kidnapping case go viral

Recently, the FBI released high-resolution surveillance photos and video clips of a person of interest in the kidnapping of Savannah's mom, Nancy Guthrie. The footage was recovered from the residual data in her home's backend systems after the recording device was removed. The clip featured an armed individual outside her Tucson residence on the morning she vanished. The man seen in the video wore a full-face ski mask (balaclava), dark gloves, a zip-up jacket, khakis, sneakers, and a backpack with reflective strips on the straps.

Not just this, he was visibly armed, appearing to have a handgun and a flashlight in his mouth to keep their hands free. The person’s eyes and eyebrows visible through the mask featured dark facial hair or a moustache. The man in question first appeared in front of Nancy’s doorbell and was later seen covering it with plants he pulled from her garden.
