Priscilla met Robert Kardashian through Elvis’ road manager Joe Esposito’s ex-wife, Joan. The two hit it off instantly and fell in love. Priscilla was already divorced when she met Robert, and soon she started dating him, but kept it a secret.

In her memoir, Priscilla revealed that she was in bed with Robert when she received a phone call from Elvis. She quietly slipped out of the bed and spoke to Elvis, while Robert slept. Elvis was busy telling Priscilla about his hit concert, while she didn’t let him realise that she had company that night. An excerpt from the book can be read as:

“Elvis would have gone ballistic, maybe literally, if he’d known Robert was in my bedroom. Elvis always carried a loaded gun, sometimes more than one.”

Why did Priscilla Presley keep her relationship with Robert Kardashian a secret?

Elvis never got to know that Priscilla was entertaining another man in her life. His late-night calls reflected the control he had over her life despite their divorce. Priscilla’s memoir mentions the danger if Elvis ever discovered her affair with Robert. Her decision to maintain secrecy about the Kardashian romance was a calculated strategy for protecting her and Robert’s lives, as she was aware of Elvis’ rage. She was aware of Evis’s capacity for violence if he ever discovered her affair.

Despite breaking up with Robert, Priscilla stayed connected with the Kardashians. When Robert was dying of oesophageal cancer in 2003, Priscilla got a call from his daughter, Kim Kardashian, as he wished to talk to her. Speaking about him, Priscilla wrote:

“Robert and I had one last conversation before he died. He was the kindest of men, and I remember him with great affection.”
