Priyanka Chopra Didn't Agree To Walk In Swim Wear During 'Miss World' Competition Reveals Mom, Madhu

Priyanka Chopra made India proud when, in 2000, she was crowned the Miss World title. Ever since then, the actress has climbed the ladder of success, and there was no looking back for her. PeeCee always had some rules that she abided by in life. Her rock bottom support has been her mother, Dr Madhu Chopra, who recently shared how the actress refused to wear swimwear during the two-piece round that the pageant had conducted.

Madhu Chopra reveals Priyanka Chopra declined to wear swimsuit during a round in the Miss World contest

Priyanka grew up in a middle-class family and has humble values. She always knew in her mind how she wanted to look in front of the world. Priyanka's mom, Dr Madhu, revealed to Lehren Retro how the organisers of the Miss World beauty pageant respected Priyanka's decision as she refused to wear a swimming costume during one of the rounds. Dr. Madhu shared:

"Priyanka ka behaviour, uska conduct, kahin bhi… dekho swimwear mein bhi, they said, ‘Two piece pehno. Even during the swimwear competition in the Miss World pageant, the organisers said, ‘Wear a two-piece.' She said, ‘Na.’ So she maintained her dignity with professionalism. Ye nahi ki tantrum."

Priyanka maintained her mark of respect and was firm on her ground to not wear a bikini. Her decision was respected by the makers and was also admired. Madhu further revealed in the interview that Priyanka sought inspiration from Sushmita Sen, while Lara Dutta played an important role during her Miss India sojourn. Madhu shared that Lara had taught Priyanka ramp walk, draping a saree and the hacks of applying makeup. This was because contestants at the beauty pageant had to manage everything. Priyanka was only used to putting kajal. Lara was also the winner of Miss World in 2000. Mona added:

"Lara taught her how to drape, Lara taught her how to walk, Lara taught her how to apply make-up on her own. Because they had do it all by themselves. Priyanka toh kuchh nahi karti thi, sirf kajal."

When Priyanka Chopra revealed calling Lara Dutta 'mom'

Madhu shared in the same interview that despite winning the crown, she did not forget to be friends with Lara. Madhu shared that they made sure to catch up whenever they were in the city. Priyanka and Lara also shared screenspace in Andaaz, opposite Akshay Kumar. Priyanka used to call Lara 'mom' reportedly as she used to help Priyanka with the makeup. Even Dia Mirza used to use the same term for Lara.

Priyanka, during the final round of the beauty pageant, was asked about the person she thought was the most successful, who was alive. PeeCee did not take a second to answer that she loved Mother Teresa. Priyanka shared:

"There are a lot of people I admire, but one of the most admirable people is Mother Teresa, who has been so compassionate, considerate and kind. She has achieved a lot for herself and for other countries. She gave up everything she ever had to make others life beautiful."
