One of Bollywood's most loved and cute couples, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa, have recently announced on their Instagram handle that they are expecting their first child. They shared a post to announce the news and captioned it as, "Elated". The post quickly went viral and fans and industry friends congratulated them by showering a lot of love. Apart from this happy moment, Rajkummar Rao is all geared up for his recent film, Maalik.

Rajkummar Rao’s thoughts on fatherhood

In a recent interview, Rajkummar Rao expressed his happiness and excitement to become a father. He shared that the experience is still sinking in for both Rajkummar and Patralekhaa. They are overwhelmed with this news. Rajkummar Rao also expressed his feelings on being a father and believes that he will be a good father. The duo said that they are looking forward to this experience, which according to their friends is the most beautiful journey of life. In his words:

"I'm going to be a great father, and I'm a great husband so I was being very, very careful."

Will Maalik be the first film Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa’s child will watch?

In a fun moment during the interview, when the host playfully talked about Maalik being the first film of Rajkummar Rao and Patrelekhaa's child, the couple started laughing and Rajkummar refused. He made it clear that the intense and violent theme of the film won't be the right choice for the child. He said: 

"No no, not that."

On July 9, 2025, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa took to their social media to share the news of their pregnancy with a sweet and heartwarming picture, along with the caption, "Elated". The couple who had been together for almost a decade and married in 2021, received a lot of love and blessings from fans and friends from the industry. The couple made their first public appearance post-announcement for the screening of Rajkummar's film, Maalik, in which Patralekhaa was spotted in a graceful oversized brown suit. 

Patralekhaa’s career and recent success

While Rajkummar Rao is enjoying the release and appreciation for his film, Maalik, Patralekhaa too is enjoying her professional success. Her recent film, Phule, in which she portrayed the role of the social reformer, 'Savitribai Phule', was widely appreciated by fans. In the same interview, she also shared how emotional she felt after getting so much love after years. She even recalled breaking down in tears when she read the positive reviews of her work in IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. In her words: 

"You know, doing the right thing, going on the right path, and suddenly there's such a lull and you don't know if it's even for you. And yes, I remember, I started crying when I read the reviews for IC: 814. I went to Raj and started crying, and he panicked, 'What happened to you?' It is just extremely validating after so many years."
