Meet 'Ramayan' Director, Ramanand Sagar's Son Prem, Grew Up In Spiritual Home, Took Dad's Legacy

Veteran producer and cinematographer, Prem Sagar, known for carrying forward the legacy of the Sagar family in Indian cinema and television, passed away on August 31, 2025, at 10 a.m. He was 77. His last rites will be performed at Pawan Hans crematorium at 2:30 PM today. Prem was an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, and was part of the 1968 batch. Due to his hard core training in the FTII he created his career base in the photography as well as the cinematography sector.

Prem Sagar played a significant role in Sagar Arts, the family-owned production house. He had worked behind the camera as a cinematographer and also a photographer for a number of movies, and also worked as a producer on many of the prime projects. Well, Sagar Arts has a rich entertainment history and is known to have produced the top TV series, Ramayan, for all audiences back in the late 1980s.
