Pentagon confirmed that U.S. Defence Secretary, Pete Hegseth asked General Randy to step down.  According to the official statement, Randy George's sudden retirement is a part of a leadership transition in the Army. These charges were made as part of routine organisational planning and restructuring. Although the White House did not elaborate on the exact details or confirm other speculations, the decision was implemented immediately. At the same time, a new successor will soon be appointed to ensure continuity in the office.

He was commissioned from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1988 and went on to serve in multiple key roles across different levels of command. He has served in leading Army units, including the 4th Infantry Division and I Corps. Also, he served in senior advisory positions within the Department of Defence. 

Throughout his career, Randy gained extensive experience through deployments in major conflicts, including the Gulf War, the Iraq War, and the war in Afghanistan. Based on his experience and leadership in critical assignments, he became the Chief of Staff in 2023.
