Even just with the first glimpse that spanned for only 3 minutes, Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana left our hearts racing. Just a glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as 'Ram' while striking an arrow from his dhanush, made us somewhat go gaga. Along with it, the showreel also had some out-of-the-world aspects to keep us hooked, and all eyes are on the release of Ramayana, which will take place on Diwali 2026. Among others, Ravi Dubey would be seen in a supporting role. Ravi would play 'Ram', i.e. Ranbir Kapoor's brother, 'Laxman'.
According to our epic, the Ramayana, 'Ram', 'Laxman', and 'Sita' would go into exile for 14 years. Laxman's love and dedication towards his brother and sister-in-law always set an example in our history and culture. 'Laxman' is one of the most important characters of the Ramayana, and thus, it's quite understandable that Ravi Dubey will have an important role to play in the movie.
For the unversed, Ramayana is made on a budget of Rs. 850 crore, and it would feature a stellar cast, who would be paid massive fees. Initially, reports claimed that Ramayana would be released in three parts and would be a trilogy, but later, it was confirmed that it would be streamlined into two parts. According to reports, Ranbir would be paid a substantial amount of Rs. 75 crore per part, while Yash, who would play the role of 'Ravana', will be paid an amount of Rs. 50 crore. Sai Pallavi, who would play the role of 'Sita', would get an amount of Rs. 6 crore per part. Talking about Ravi Dubey, reportedly, he will be paid Rs. 2-4 crore per part in the film. In a word, Ravi, who has been a famous face in the television world, is all set to bring fire to the screens.
Taking to his IG handle, Ravi Dubey dropped the teaser of Ramayana, wherein he revealed that it's the greatest honour of his life to play the role of 'Laxman' in the movie. The actor mentioned that it has been a great path for him to work in such a story that has been going on for generations. He added that he has been grateful to work on Namit Malhotra's story, which will feature the world of Rama vs. Ravana. Ravi could be quoted as saying:
"It’s the greatest honour of my life to be part of a story that has shaped generations. Welcome to the world of Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana, the immortal story of Rama vs. Ravana. Grateful to walk this path, and to share it with all of you. Let’s celebrate this moment and together, step into the World of Ramayana.”
The early reviews of Ramayana have been overall positive. People have earlier expressed their worry whether it would work or be something like Adipurush. Netizens, based on the early reviews of the showreel, expressed concerns about the movie in line with their expectations, while others wondered if the movie would disappoint. The shooting of the first part has been done, but reportedly, the post-production work will take 600 days.
