RHTDM was R Madhavan's ninth film, but it was his only second film in Bollywood after his debut Hindi film, Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin. On the flip side, Dia Mirza made her acting debut in Bollywood with RHTDM. However, how she performed in the film made it hard to accept that she was a debutant back then. According to several reports, Dia Mirza was chosen as the lead of RHTDM because she won the Miss Asia Pacific title in 2000. After winning the beauty pageant, she was all over the news, and the makers went ahead with her.
According to IMDb, the film's producer, Vashu Bhagnani chose the name, 'Koi Mil Gaya' for this film initially. However, when they decided to finalise it, they got to know that Rakesh Roshan had already booked this title for his next directorial. As a result, Vashu and his team started looking for another title, and after brainstorming sessions, they all agreed to Rehnaa Hain Terre Dil Mein.
Not everyone is aware of the fact that R Madhavan and Dia Mirza's iconic film, Rehnaa Hain Terre Dil Mein, is the official remake of an iconic film. For the uninitiated, Gautham Vasudev Menon made the Tamil film, Minnale back in 2001, and after its huge success in the South, producers approached him to make it in Hindi. In the Tamil film, R Madhavan played the lead and was paired with Reema Sen. The actor was so exceptional in his performance that he reprised his role in its Hindi remake opposite Dia Mirza.
There's no denying the fact that Dia Mirza was superb in her role as 'Reena Malhotra', and it's impossible to imagine any other actress in that particular role. However, it was never the makers' initial choice to cast a debutant actress in the official remake of the blockbuster film, Minnale. As per multiple reports, Richa Pallod was the first choice for the film, but the actress declined the opportunity due to other projects. After she denied doing it, makers shifted their focus and found Dia Mirza, who had everything that they were looking for in their film's lead actress.
Vashu Bhagnani's son, Jackky Bhagnani is a renowned actor-turned-producer, who made his debut as an actor in the 2009 film, Kal Kissne Dekha. However, not everyone is aware of the fact that he made his first on-screen appearance in the film, Rehnaa Hain Terre Dil Mein. Yes! You read it right. Jackky was just 15 at that time and worked as an assistant on the film. He himself shared a screengrab of his cameo in the film on Twitter back in 2016.
