Late Rishi Kapoor was no less than a stalwart in the Hindi film industry. Son of iconic actor and filmmaker, Raj Kapoor, Rishi had created a legacy of himself, that consisted of iconic filmography and countless accolades. Apart from the versatile person that he was in terms of his characters on-screen, Rishi was hooked onto old-school beliefs and firm values, when it came to his personal life. For the unversed, Rishi Kapoor was married to the actress, Neetu Singh, and together, they welcomed their children, Riddhima and Ranbir.
In one of his older interviews with Anupam Kher on a chat show, Rishi Kapoor had reminisced about the kind of bonding that he shared with his father, Raj Kapoor. He mentioned how his father never had a communicative bonding with him or his brothers, Randhir and Rajiv, since he was always busy at work. Thereafter, he compared the scenario with him being a father to his son, Ranbir, and revealed how he made salient changes in his parenting style, so that he could spend more time with his kids. He had mentioned:

“He (Raj Kapoor) did not have time for his children. Either he was working for someone, or he was directing and starring in his own movies. So, when I became a father, I decided to not shoot on Sundays and dedicate that day to my kids. So, with every generation, thinking changes. I know what I missed out with my father, so I made sure to fill in those gaps.”

Rishi Kapoor missed out on seeing his own granddaughter, Raha Kapoor, as he had passed away way before the latter’s birth. Nevertheless, it didn’t perhaps stop him from visualising the kind of upbringing his future grandchild would have, courtesy of his son, Ranbir Kapoor. Well, in that same interaction with Anupam Kher, Rishi Kapoor had speculated about the kind of father his son, Ranbir would turn out to be for his child. In his words:
“I am sure Ranbir will do something with his kid what he missed out with me. I think I have inculcated a sense of tradition and culture in that boy.”
During the promotional press conference for his film, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, Ranbir Kapoor had once shared a fond anecdote from his new journey as a father to his baby girl, Raha Kapoor. He revealed how it always becomes a task for him to leave his daughter home and come to work, as he simply misses her. Moreover, he even proudly asserted himself to be a burping specialist for the little one. He had said:
“I don’t want to leave home. This morning, just the 20 minutes I got with her before my flight rejuvenated me. I miss her a lot, I keep seeing her photos. I’m a burping specialist. I never knew burping is such a big part in the early stages of a child. Whenever I’m at home, I’m always beside her, and it’s magical."

Ranbir had attended Kareena Kapoor Khan’s talk show, What Women Want, where he discussed the topic of parenting. The actor highlighted that he and his wife, Alia Bhatt opted for a completely different parenting style for their daughter, Raha, that was significantly different from the one adopted by his father, Rishi Kapoor. Speaking more about it, he mentioned:
“I think with papa and Daboo uncle also, the kind of parenting style they had was a little distant. They believed in family values a lot. They wanted the entire family to always be together. They were strict. They were not on buddy terms. The family values that he has instilled in me and my sister, that is something I would like to pass on to Raha.”
