Saif Ali Khan Shares Ex-Wife, Amrita Singh's 'Invaluable' Role In His Life 2 Decades After Divorce

Actors, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, were once one of the most talked-about couples of Bollywood, and they still are, even after years of separation. The duo have moved on in life and share an amicable bond as co-parents to Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Saif and Amrita's marriage and ugly divorce both made significant buzz on the internet. Following their separation, they remained out of touch for quite some time and cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of their divorce. Now, they're in a better place, and Saif recently opened up about the upsides of his past relationship with Amrita.

Saif Ali Khan's ex-wife, Amrita Singh, was much more experienced than he was, both in terms of life and career. She is 12 years older than him, and they got married during Saif's early years in the industry. He was just 21 back then and often spoke about the age factor playing a part in his marriage with Amrita not working. During the October 9, 2025, episode of Two Much with Kajol & Twinkle, Saif mentioned that he had spoken about his separation from Amrita, but never really shared how important a role she had played in his life. He appeared on the Prime Video talk show with Akshay Kumar.

During their dating and spousal era, Amrita was well-established in Bollywood while Saif was a rising star. Amrita not just acted as a supportive partner to him but also guided him through his way in the film industry. Saif recalled her contribution in his life, saying that her help at that time was 'quite invaluable.' He seemed grateful for Amrita's assistance, both as a senior in the industry and as his partner. He further stated that their marriage might not have lasted, but he was happy about becoming a dad to two wonderful children. He said:

"I've spoken about it a lot, and obviously, 21 is a young age, and things change. We know that things didn't work out, but apart from having two wonderful, wonderful children, I don't think I've said before how important Amrita was in my life, to help me understand my way through the film industry, as well as understand quite a few things. Her contribution and help at that time were quite invaluable. It's a pity things didn't work out."

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh were together for 13 years before parting ways for good in 2004. Discussing their current dynamics, Saif said he was 'very lucky' to be able to stay in touch with Amrita. He shared that they get along well and speak about important things whenever they meet. They contact each other quite often as Saif keeps getting dragged to the hospital for different health issues and check-ups, when he meets Amrita. Talking about their frequent meetups, Saif Ali Khan mentioned:

"There were some really important and learning years, and like I said, she's a wonderful mom. But I'm very lucky; I think my ex-wife and I get along well enough. We usually speak about important things, and usually when I'm in a hospital bed...which is actually quite often. So yeah, it's a regular kind of contact."
