"Many things were said about me that were absolutely untrue. But what held me back, I remember having this conversation with myself when things were really, really crappy and they were really, really… absolute lies were being spread. And there were many times when I wanted to come out and say, this is not true, let me tell you the truth."
Going further, the Citadel: Honey Bunny star revealed when a woman goes through a divorce, there's a lot of shame and stigma attached. She got a lot of comments saying 'second hand', 'used', and 'wasted life'. Samantha acknowledged feeling like she was pushed into a corner where she felt like a failure because she was divorced. She acknowledged that women need to face different pressures in a patriarchal setup when a relationship falls out. Samantha also felt getting subjected to more judgment and shaming, not just online, but even in real life, more than a man. She added:
"And I do believe, it can be really hard for families and girls who've gone through."
Samantha was urged to hit the records straight but did not speak a word. She realized that there would be no good in giving back to people who lied about her. She felt that people may love you for a minute, and then maybe like three days later, you do something stupid, and they would go back to hating you again. She found peace within her inner circle as she said:
"Can you not live with the fact that your friends and your family know the truth? And it's okay. If people think that you think all of these things that are not true about you, isn't it okay? It's fine."
The actress further shared that she never needed any validation to embrace herself. Initially, she looked for validation all her life, but now she felt whoever believes, whatever they believe, it's up to them. Samantha and Naga Chaitanya met on Ye Maaya Chesave's sets back in 2010.
