Sameer Wankhede was extremely hurt by Aryan Khan's directorial debut, which reportedly mocked him. The former NCB zonal director, Sameer Wankhede, decided to take the matters to court and filed a petition against Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan's production house and Netflix. Sameer claimed that his image was tarnished due to the show, but the court thinks otherwise.
As per the latest update, Sameer Wankhede was questioned by Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav as to how the plea was maintainable in Delhi. They rejected the plea on the same grounds. He added that his case would have been justified if he had been defamed at various places, including Delhi, and the maximum damage would have been caused to him in Delhi. The Justice said:
"Your plaint is not maintainable here in Delhi. I am rejecting your plaint. Had your case been that you have been defamed at various places, including Delhi, and the maximum damage has occurred in Delhi, we would have still considered the matter here in Delhi."
However, Sameer Wankhede's lawyer, Sandeep Sethi, stated that the web series was aired across cities, including Delhi, and the officer has been defamed in it. He stated that the web series was meant for Delhi, and he was defamed here. For the unversed, Sameer Wankhede requested a permanent injunction, declaration and damages of Rs. 2 crore against Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix and others, which he intends to donate to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital. He claimed that the web series portrays anti-drug enforcement agencies in a bad light.

Sameer claimed that the series was deliberately conceptualised and executed with the intent to malign his reputation in a painted and tainted way. He added that this is happening when proceedings involving him and Aryan Khan are still pending in the Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court, Mumbai. He stated that it was an unfair portrayal which targets him amidst the judicial case.
After the seven-episode series was released, viewers quickly noticed a character who appeared at the end of the first episode who resembled Sameer Wankhede. In the sequence that is under the radar, an officer claims that he is fighting a 'war against drugs' and the agency name was 'NCG'. The officer then entered a glitzy Bollywood party and accused the film industry of being plagued by substance abuse.
However, fans were quick to notice that it was a dig at Sameer Wankhede as the character was donning a white shirt and dark pants, along with his hair and physical features giving an uncanny resemblance to the former Narcotics Control Bureau officer.
