Sanjay Kapoor Claims Brother, Boney Kapoor Chose Fardeen Khan Over Saving Former's Tanked Career

Sanjay Kapoor is one of the most notable actors of his generation in Bollywood, who captivated many hearts with his handsome looks and promising skills. The actor created quite the rage back during the ‘90s and early 2000s, was the son of filmmaker, Surinder Kapoor, and made his entry into films at a time when his brother, Anil Kapoor was already established in his acting career. Unfortunately, unlike his brother, Sanjay wasn’t able to create a successful journey in Bollywood, and his career tanked subsequently.

Sanjay Kapoor remarks how his own brother, Boney Kapoor chose other actors and over his dying career

In a recent interaction on Shivani Pau’s podcast, Sanjay Kapoor remarked how his elder brother, Boney Kapoor, despite being an A-listed filmmaker, never attempted to save the former’s gradually tanking career. Sanjay talked about a particular time when Boney was making the film, No Entry. The Raja actor claimed how his brother chose Fardeen Khan to be a part of that film, and not him, despite knowing that his career was falling significantly. Adding how the film already included a superstar-studded cast including his other brother, Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan, Sanjay expressed:

“My brother (Boney) didn’t cast me when I was going through the (tough) phase. When he made No Entry, he could have taken me instead of Fardeen Khan; but he didn’t. There already was Anil Kapoor and Salman Khan in its cast, so he could have sold the picture anyway. The picture would have done well anyway even if he took me. Things would have still happened the way it happened and No Entry would have been a blockbuster.”

Sanjay reveals if his brother, Boney Kapoor didn’t love him enough to offer him a film

Speaking along the same lines, Sanjay Kapoor then justified his brother, Boney Kapoor’s preference of roping in some other actor over saving the former’s career. The actor explained that Fardeen Khan was a more bankable actor at that time, and such a decision certainly didn’t mean that Boney Kapoor loved him less. It was only business at the end that the filmmaker focussed on. Adding how he hasn’t worked with his brother’s production house for the last 20 years, Sanjay expressed:

“But he took Fardeen because, at that time, he was more sellable than me. I haven’t worked in my brother’s production in the last 20 years. When I was producing films and going through this low (phase), it was not that they didn’t love me. But it is business at the end of the day.”

When Sanjay talked about his soon-to-be debutant daughter, Shanaya getting compared with her other actor cousins

Previously, while interacting with Bollywood Bubble, Sanjay Kapoor discussed how her daughter, Shanaya Kapoor, who is soon to make her debut in films, stands a chance to get compared with her other successful actor cousins, including Arjun Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. He said:

“Today when a movie about Sonam comes, nobody talks about Sonam and Anil. When Arjun’s film comes, nobody speaks of Anil and Arjun or Arjun and me. It’s only for a film or two… it’s a normal thing, you have to take it in your stride. Finally, it’s your family, so you will be a little bit compared. After a while, it just dies a natural death. After that, it’s the kind of roles you do. Today especially the rules as soon different to when we started.”
