'Sarvam Maya' Ending Explained, Did 'Prabhendhu' Fall In Love With Ghost, 'Maya Mathew' In The Film?

Sarvam Maya is a Malayalam horror-fantasy film, starring Nivin Pauly, Vineeth and Methil Devika. The film, directed by Akhil Sathyan blends humour, horror and emotions. The movie that hit the theater screens on December 25, 2025, is now out on the OTT giant, JioHotstar. Amid the buzz around the horror film, read on to understand the end of the movie, Sarvam Maya.

Plotline of Sarvam Maya

The Malayalam film, Sarvam Maya tells the story of 'Prabhendhu Nambhoothiri' (played by Nivin Pauly), who is born into a respected family in Kerala. While his family dreams to see their son become a priest like them, 'Prabhendhu' secretly dreams of being a singer. However, he struggles due to financial issues. Soon, he returns to his ancestral home, leaving behind his dreams.

In the beginning to earn money, 'Prabhendhu' starts doing part-time priest duties along with his cousin. However, things soon change. One night, after doing the puja, he feels something strange and encounters a ghost. But, the ghost behaves in a friendly manner. 'Prabhendhu' names the ghost, Delulu (played by Riya Shibhu). Unlike horror stories, 'Delulu' doesn't harm anyone, but she gradually becomes a part of 'Prabhendhu's' life.

Slowly and gradually, 'Delulu' starts influencing 'Prabhendhu' daily life. She encourages him, motivates him and helps him face his fears. At the face, 'Delulu' also helps him understand his emotions better. As the film moves ahead, 'Prabhendhu' starts falling for a woman named 'Saadhya'. 'Delulu' closely notices this and often teases 'Prabhendhu' as well. However, there is something off, which makes viewers think that 'Delulu' is connected to 'Prabhendhu' in a manner which is not yet revealed.

Does ‘Delulu’ fall in love with ‘Prabhendhu’?

As the movie progresses, viewers see ‘Prabhendhu’ and ‘Delulu’ coming back after meeting ‘Saadhya’. At that time, ‘Delulu’ expresses her feelings to ‘Prabhendhu’ and confesses that she loves him. This complicates the entire situation as 'Prabhendhu' is completely shocked by this confession. Later, 'Delulu' starts to relive her past memories, in which she recalls her meeting with 'Prabhendhu' and their moments together. This is when her real name gets revealed, which is 'Maya Mathew', a woman who died with unfinished and unresolved emotions. After revealing the name, 'Maya' finally finds peace and starts to disappear. This suggests that her soul is finally free. 

Sarvam Maya ending explained (spoiler alert)

As the film nears its end, 'Prabhendhu', who is highly affected by the sudden disappearance, goes to visit 'Maya's' mother. He introduces himself as her friend. However, when 'Maya's' mother asked if he was the same man whom 'Maya' loved before she died, 'Prabhendhu' took a slight pause and then said 'yes', probably only to give emotional closure to her mother. As he leaves, a gentle breeze passes by, hinting at 'Maya's' presence. 

The film ends with 'Prabhendhu' moving ahead in his life. He follows his passion for music and begins living with more clarity and purpose in life. Even though 'Maya' has disappeared from his life, he continues to keep her presence alive in his heart. The film ends on an open note, leaving viewers confused on whether 'Prabhendhu' loved 'Maya' or not.
