Shah Rukh Khan is often hailed as the King of Bollywood as his acting spree transformed the world of romantic movies in India. However, not many know that the actor found it challenging to perform in front of the camera when his wife, Gauri Khan, was present on the set. Yes, you read that right! Let us tell you more about this interesting anecdote about Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri’s relationship.
Earlier, in an interview with India Today Magazine, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that he can not act in front of his wife, Gauri Khan. At that time, SRK was yet to become a big name with the success of his film, DDLJ, but he was quite popular in India for his work in films like Darr, Karan Arjun, and Baazigar, among others. Sharing the reason behind the same, he had said:
“I’ll be acting in front of someone who knows me really well.”

In the same interview, producer, Vivek Vaswani, who was also sitting with Shah Rukh Khan, shared some other details about the latter's bond with his wife, Gauri. Shedding light on the essence of Shah Rukh and Gauri’s relationship, Vivek stated that Shah Rukh can live without oxygen but not without Gauri. He also went on to reveal that the couple never fights among themselves and said:
“Shah Rukh can live without oxygen but not without Gauri. They never fight. When she shouts, he listens. He is absolutely besotted with her.”
Shah Rukh Khan was head over heels in love with Gauri Khan, and he was certain about making her his wife. Once, in an old interview with Preity Zinta, SRK revealed that he proposed to Gauri multiple times before finally getting a 'Yes' from her. He also went on to reveal that his producers advised him to stay a bachelor at the beginning of his career, but he remained firm on his decision to tie the knot with his lady love. He said:
“I told her, let’s get married. She refused even then, she was quite hard-hearted. A year later, my mother died so she felt sorry for me. So she said let’s get married. She didn’t want me to be an actor. So I said okay let’s marry. My producers said not to marry, ‘Bachelor hero ki fan following zyada hoti hai’, but I said, ‘Mushkil se pataya, shaadi karni padegi’.”

It was in 1994, when Shah Rukh Khan starred in the romantic comedy film, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, along with Deepak Tijori and Suchitra Krishnamoorthy. Since Shah Rukh was newly married to his wife, Gauri, the latter would often visit the set to spend time with him. Once in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy talked about witnessing Shah Rukh and Gauri’s love for each other and revealed how he would treat her on the set. Suchitra recalled:
“We were witnessing it on the set with Gauri. The way he was with Gauri, he used to be like she is made of rose petals, you know the way he used to treat her. It was just so beautiful.”
