Shalini Passi, the new ‘IT’ girl of Tinseltown, never fails to amaze us with her unwavering grace, honesty and goddess-like feminine energy. The gorgeousness, who fans like to call ‘god’s favourite child’, recently revealed her thoughts on becoming a ‘national obsession’ after her stint in Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives.
Shalini Passi was one of the ‘Delhi girls’ who joined the Netflix Show, Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives, alongside Kalyani Saha Chawla and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. From the time she set foot into the show dressed as Cleopatra for the MASH Gala on the first episode, she’s taken centre stage. The art connoisseur and philanthropist won over our hearts with her radiance and unapologetic approach towards life.

Recently, Shalini Passi graced the We The Women 2024 event along with her co-stars from the Netflix show. During a candid conversation with journalist, Barkha Dutt, the proud Delhi socialite expressed her thoughts on being at the receiving end of excessive attention since the show aired, even addressing her status as ‘a national obsession’. Shalini being Shalini, responded with her signature witty remark, saying:
“People have been telling me this. But I was always obsessed with myself.”
When asked about the message she wanted to send through her reality show journey, Shalini offered a rare glimpse into her perspective. Emphasising the importance of understanding personal limits before taking a blind dive, Shalini responded:
“For me, I was really concerned that I didn’t want people to follow what I was doing because I don’t want them to jump into the sea if they don’t know how to swim. It’s a little impractical way of life as well. But I think they’re sensible. That was my concern. Don’t jump into the ocean if you don’t know how to swim.”
For those who have seen the show, there’s no denying the fact that Shalini becomes one with nature, especially when it comes to rain and the sea. At this point, Shalini herself calls her life the 'Shalini Passi ocean’, where her carefully curated life helps her stay motivated, safe and productive. She explains the feeling of tranquillity in her day-to-day experience. In Shalini’s words:

“The ocean, it’s my world where I stay. It keeps me safe, and I’m very productive in it because I sort of block out a lot of the noises which are not.”
Even though Shalini has become a fan favourite, it’s a matter of debate when it comes to her co-stars. In the show, we saw the drama unfold when Shalini assumed that Riddhima and Kalyani were trying to gang up on her, especially after Riddhima ‘accidentally’ spilt wine on her dress. Whatever the truth might be, Shalini’s recent post on Instagram once again sparked speculations about the underlying feud. Her IG story on November 23, 2024, was paired with a cryptic caption that wrote: "When you’re debating whether to be the bigger person or the bigger problem."
What do you think about Shalini’s perspective on being a national obsession?
