Sharadchandra Govindrao Pawar, known as Sharad Pawar, is one of the biggest politicians in Indian politics. The Padma Vibhushan awardee is often called the 'Chanakya of Indian politics', courtesy of his surreal moves that have always made a significant mark in regional and national politics. In November 2024, Sharad Pawar hinted at his retirement and stated that the Maharashtra Assembly Polls would be his last frontier before bidding farewell to politics.
Sharad Pawar added that he would love to groom young politicians who will serve Maharashtra for generations to come. For the uninitiated, Sharad Pawar has contested 14 times from the Baramati constituency, and not once has he been defeated there. Courtesy of his incredible bond with the people of Baramati in the last 57 years, Sharad Pawar holds a special place in the hearts of Baramati residents. The 83-year-old politician has served as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for four terms.

Not only this, Sharad Pawar has also headed various sports departments in his political career, including the Mumbai Cricket Association, Maharashtra Olympics Association, President of BCCI, President of International Cricket Council, and more. Talking about the iconic politician's personal life, he is married to Pratibha Pawar, who is the daughter of the late popular Indian cricketer, Sadashiv Ganpatrao Sadu Shinde, commonly known as Sadu Shinde. According to multiple reports, Sharad Pawar tied the marital knot to Sadu Shinde's daughter, Pratibha, in 1967.
Sharad Pawar and Pratibha Pawar's only child, Supriya Sule is also a renowned politician and is the current working President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Sharadchandra Pawar (SP). Since 2009, she has represented the Baramati constituency in the Lok Sabha as an MP. For the uninitiated, Supriya has a B.Sc degree in microbiology, which she attained from Mumbai's Jai Hind College. Despite being the daughter of one of the biggest political figures in Indian politics, especially in Maharashtra's political scenario, she prefers to live a low-key life.

Sharad Pawar and Pratibha Pawar's daughter, Supriya Sule married renowned businessman Sadanand Bhalchandra Sule on March 4, 1991. When it was announced that Sharad Pawar's daughter was getting married, there was a huge uproar in the media, as people were expecting a lavish wedding. However, to everyone's surprise, it was an intimate wedding, and even there was no 'band baja'.
Once, during her appearance at a public event in Pune's Indapur taluka, Supriya Sule talked about her wedding ceremony and revealed that it didn't include any bursting of firecrackers, flowery decorations, or fancy dresses. Not only this, but Supriya Sule also shared that there was no wedding feast, and the guests were given just one pedha. Further, in her speech, the ace politician clearly stated that she wasn't against extravagant functions, but according to her, marriage should not be linked to the status of a family. An excerpt from her long speech could be read as:
"My daughter's marriage will be simple. In my marriage, my father did not burst crackers. There were no fancy dresses or flowery decorations and band baaja. In fact, there was no wedding feast. Those who attended it will recall that the participant was given one pedha. Just one pedha. Had you seen the marriage invitation, you would have laughed."
For the uninitiated, India's former Prime Minister, Chandra Shekhar and Sharad Pawar were close friends. They were so close that when talks of Sharad's daughter, Supriya's wedding were happening, Chandra Shekhar called her then-fiance and now-husband, Sadanand Bhalchandra Sule, to fix the wedding date. In a conversation with Lallantop, Surpriya Sule revealed that her uncle, Chandra Shekhar called her fiance and told him, "I am Chandra Shekhar, Prime Minister of India", and in response to this, Sadanand said to him, "Yes. Yes, and I am the President of America".
After knowing this, Supriya immediately went to Chandra Shekhar's office and apologised to him for Sadanand's behaviour, but the latter was quite cool as he didn't take it quite seriously. After this, Supriya called Sadanand again to clear things up between him and Chandra Shekhar. But as soon as Sadanand picked up the phone, India's former PM asked him about the wedding date and told him, "Ek hafte ke andar agar aap mujhe date nahin bhejte toh main yaha se date bhejdunga".
In the same interview with Lallantop, Supriya Sule also revealed that her parents, Sharad Pawar and Pratibha Pawar, didn't perform her kanyadaan. The politician revealed that it was her chacha, Pratap Pawar and his wife, who performed Surpiya's kanyadaan in her parents' absence. Recalling the same, Supriya revealed that their family is a joint one. Thus, there were numerous occasions when her relatives fulfilled the responsibilities of a guardian in the absence of her parents.
Supriya Sule also added that her father, Sharad Pawar, was in Delhi and didn't attend her reception party. It's fair to say that the Pawar clan is going to play a critical role in Indian politics in the future.
