Sharmin Segal has been constantly making the headlines with her role as 'Alamzeb' in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. While everyone is going gaga over the stellar performance of the entire cast, Sharmin's acting skills got tagged as 'poor'. While some people have been asking questions about her acting skills, others started dragging the actress into the nepotism debate. Now, in an interview, Sharmin was asked if she gets any leeway for being Sanjay Leela Bhansali's niece. Meanwhile, Richa Chadha revealed the truth.
While scrolling through the discussion platform, Reddit, we stumbled upon a video, wherein Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, and Sanjeeda Shaikh were seen sitting for an interview. In the video, the host asked Sharmin if she gets any leeway for being Sanjay Leela Bhansali's niece. To this, Sharmin said that it's quite the opposite actually and she doesn't get any leeway. Meanwhile, Richa Chadha mentioned that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is quite harsh on Sharmin.

Sharmin Segal, on the other hand, shared that SLB loves her a lot, and there are days when he just looks at her like his niece and not as an actress in his series. The actress mentioned that on the sets, she does not look at SLB as her mama but as the famous director, and it is because he won this respect throughout his life. She said that she couldn't take away the respect just because she was related to him, and she also couldn't change the fact that she was his niece. Sharmin also praised her uncle and added that SLB knows how to drag something unexpected from a person, which they didn't even see in themselves. Later in the video, Sharmin also revealed that both she and her sister address Sanjay Leela Bhansali as 'sir' and not 'mama'.
As soon as the video was dropped on Reddit, netizens rushed to the comment section and penned down their opinions. While some users remained irritated by the way she was answering, others noticed that Richa Chadha was confused with Sharmin's replies. Some other netizens even called out Sharmin's acting skills and bashed Sanjay Leela Bhansali for not launching a fresh and new talent. Check out the comments below:

Sharmin Segal is the daughter of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's sister, Bela Segal. So in that case, SLB is Sharmin's mama. However, Sharmin prefers to call SLB as 'sir' and not as 'mama'. In an interview with The Indian Express, Sharmin shared that when she became an assistant director of SLB, she understood what kind of a talented man he is.

Sharmin said when she was only four years old, Devdas was made, and she used to go to the sets with her mama and wanted to sit on Aishwarya Rai's lap as a kid. But when she was 17 years old, she rewatched Devdas again, and it made her realise who Sanjay Leela Bhansali is, and since then, she has addressed him as 'sir.'
