The Alexanders are the largest family in the National Football League and one of the most beloved as well. Shaun Alexander became the heart of the Seattle Seahawks with his impeccable record and, over the years, earned a place in the memories of NFL fans. Nonetheless, his family's constant support has been his greatest strength, providing him with the motivation to make a greater impact in the sports world. And now, the Alexander clan is set to welcome another charming addition to their family, making them a clan of 14 beautiful souls. Former NFL star, Shaun, is in the news again and not for a new football feature, but for an update on his growing family.
The 2005 NFL MVP, Shaun Alexander, in a recent interview, revealed that he and his wife, Valerie Alexander, are all set to welcome their 14th child. The couple tied the knot in 2002, and already has 13 children, including 10 daughters and 3 sons. Notably, this news of the latest addition to their family comes amid widespread interest in how they balance fame, parenting, faith, and public life. Although people are already aware of Shaun, the news has raised intrigue in his partner in life and the mother of his 14 children, Valerie Alexander. So, without any further ado, let us introduce you to the matriarch of the Alexander family.
Valerie and Shaun Alexander tied the knot in April 2002 after almost two years of dating. The NFL star was playing for the Seattle Seahawks at the height of his career. However, it was after his marriage that he received the boost that led to his standout 2005 season, in which he won the National Football League's Most Valuable Player award. However, while football was his passion, his family was his heart, and he always kept his family at the centre of his life.
Originally from Florence, Kentucky, Shaun Alexander played college football at the University of Alabama before entering the NFL in 2000. On the other hand, Valerie Alexander stood by him through every up and down of life. The two met before his NFL fame fully blossomed, courted for two years, and were married in April 2002. Talking about Valerie, she is often described as a supportive partner, an extremely supportive partner to Shaun and a doting mother.
Valerie Alexander loves her family and has spent many quiet moments raising her and Shaun Alexander's children, homeschooling them, and building a family grounded in faith. Shaun and Valerie Alexander have a happy and blessed family. However, their lives have not been without heartbreak and pain. The couple had 13 children so far – 10 daughters and 3 sons. Being extremely religious, they chose the names that reflected their values and sentiments and hence named their kids Heaven, Trinity, Eden, Joseph, Justus, Temple, Honor, Jedidiah, Eternity, Hosanna, Hope, Judea, Heaven and Torah.
Nonetheless, unfortunately, their youngest at the time, Torah, died in 2017 at just two months old. Despite the large family, the couple still remember their daughter, Torah, with deep love. They spoke publicly about the grief and how their faith had helped him through the pain. Valerie even expressed how those painful 70 days with Torah were a blessing in their eyes, even if heartache followed.
It was on September 25, 2025, when Shaun Alexander announced that Valerie was pregnant with their 14th baby. The former NFL star appeared for a candid conversation with Kay Adams on "Up & Adams" and shared the joyful news. While he did not mention the baby's gender or due date, the news left the couple's fans excited. He was quoted as saying:
"We’re just now starting to tell people, but number 14 is in the belly."
While Shaul Alexander rose to fame as one of the most accomplished players on the football field, setting records, making Pro Bowls, and leaving a lasting legacy with the Seahawks, he transitioned into life as a husband, father, and public figure with humility. Valerie played a strong role behind the scenes, managing their kids and household, homeschooling them, nurturing values, and maintaining a stable home environment. While their efforts remain extremely contrasting, their love and acknowledgement of each other have often won the world's heart.
The couple often shares glimpses of family life on social media, showing joy, sibling bonding, and celebrations. However, that is not all; along with the glamorous side, they also highlight that their faith is also central to their shared life. As born-again Christians, Shaun and Valerie have frequently discussed how their faith influences their parenting, decision-making, and approach to coping with loss and challenges.
As their family grows yet again, their bond, belief, and shared journey continue to impress and inspire many who look on. What are your thoughts on Shaun and Valerie Alexander? Let us know.
