Snoop Dogg and Shante's love story began back in high school at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in California. In her subsequent interviews, the latter revealed that she had always held an admiration for Snoop even before his music career rose to success. She used to attend his early performances and stood by him when he was trying to make his mark in a competitive field. Gradually, their bond became stronger, and they got married in June 1997 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in California. 

From an outer perspective, the marriage looked like a fairytale, but just like any other long-time bond in showbiz, they faced their fair share of trials. They began to grow apart as Snoop rose to fame, and in May 2004, he filed for divorce on the basis of 'irreconcilable differences'. Later, the rapper revealed that the decision was a result of his fame, which got into his head. However, before the proceedings went ahead, they reconciled and renewed their vows on January 12, 2008. Recalling how he realised his mistake, Snoop said in a 2007 interview:

"I thought I was the man, and I was willing to give up what I had at home until I realised that what I had at home was irreplaceable."

Snoop Dogg and Shante welcomed three children in their marriage: Corde, Cordell, and Cori. But behind this 'happy family' image, cheating allegations against Snoop had repeatedly tested their bond. In 2019, YouTube personality, Celina Powell claimed that Snoop had an affair with her, and rapper, 6ix9ine shared posts supporting the scandal. The rapper later responded publicly through his show, Clout Chasers. He exposed the plot and defended his marriage. But it was just one of many rumours about infidelity, including his earlier affair with Laurie Helmond that resulted in a child, Julian, born in 1998 while Snoop was still married to Shante.

Amid all the challenges, Snoop has openly spoken about the secret behind their long-lasting relationship. In an interview with People, he admitted their marriage was a 'rocky road'. However, he stressed that his commitment to Shante has never wavered. At the same time, he credited his wife for keeping up with his mistakes and giving him a chance to do better than them. Sharing his views, Snoop said:

"We are meant to be together…When we said we'd marry, we married till death do us part. Ain't that what it says? Not' till arguments do us part or fighting or finances, but till death do us part."
