Bollywood actor, Sohail Khan married fashion designer, Seema Sajdeh in 1998. The couple welcomed their two sons, Nirvaan and Yohan (via surrogacy), in the following years. Unfortunately, their marriage could not stand the test of time, and the two decided to call it quits. Sohail and Seema divorced in 2022 and remained cordial for the sake of their children.
Just a year after their divorce, Seema appeared on Shivani Pau's A Millennial Mind podcast and spoke at length about her relationship with Sohail and the reason behind their separation. While conversing, the fashion designer revealed that she had eloped with Sohail after three months of dating. They got married when Seema was just 22 years old. At such a young age, seeing her husband with other beautiful women made her a bit insecure, and then there was constant social pressure on her.

In the conversation, the host inquired when was the exact point when Seema decided to part ways with Sohail. The fashion designer said that it was no secret that she was separated from the Bollywood actor, and they didn't even live together. She added that this arrangement suited both of them. Seema was quoted as saying:
"It's no secret I was separated for quite a few years. We didn't live together, but the world thought we were together. I guess it suited, why should I blame it on him, it suited the both of us."
Seema further discussed that she was at a point in her life where she had to choose between her marriage and her elder son, Nirvaan, who was spiralling down a path that she was extremely scared of. The fashion designer also clarified that it was for her son that she chose to separate and not because of the rumours of other women. She said:
"I had to choose between my marriage and my son. My son was going down a path that I was very scared of. One morning, I woke up and realised that either I focus all my energies on saving this marriage, or my son. That’s when I decided, I chose him. I remember I have full clarity contrary to what people out there think that I left for all sorts of reasons, other women or whatever but no I made a choice."

Earlier, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan appeared on the former's son, Arhaan Khan's talk show, Dumb Biryani. While conversing Sohail had mentioned that everything comes with an expiry date. Likewise, relationships expire as well, and one should amicably move on from it when one feels that the excitement in their relationship is lost. Stating how communication is the key, Sohail said:
“Negative feelings about other people coming to you because see, everything has an expiry. You buy medicine, you buy a chocolate, you call for food. So even relationships have an expiry. If you feel that you're losing the excitement in the relationship, amicably, just you know move on. Communication is the best thing, so, using the right choice of words, pick your words wisely, be honest.”
